You might want to look at this site
quote:
Includes eligible charges from the airline such as checked bags, in-flight refreshments, flight-change fees, oversize baggage fees, airport lounge day-passes, pet-kennel fees, and phone reservation fees.

gracias.
Is it a one time $200 airline fee? Or do they reimburse every year up to $200?

No problem.
In the fine print:
quote:
Airline tickets, upgrades, mileage points purchases, mileage points transfer fees, gift cards, duty free purchases, and award tickets are not deemed to be incidental fees

The wording:
"You can receive up to $200 a year in credits for airline incidental fees*"
That makes it sound like you receive $200 credit every year.

have a trip to nyc in 3 weeks, tell me how I can maximize this trip using the perks of the platinum card... I already booked delta, haven't booked a hotel.
I have the Platinum and going to NYC in April.
1. I contacted concierge and asked for an event schedule for the dates I'm going. I had a customized report in my email within 3 hours.
2. Book through Fine Hotels and Etc. It's pretty damn expensive but so is NYC. The W in Time Square rate is affordable.
3. Call AMEX and tell them you want Starwood Preferred Gold Status. They'll connect you to Starwood rep. Gold status is worth it.

It's hit or miss. You don't always get upgraded so you don't always get club access. Late check out is nice if you need it and they allow it. Gold status perks really is a hotel by hotel deal in my experience.

Also, I feel obligated to share this. What I did...NYC is expensive so I took 3000 AMEX points and transferred to SPG account.
Sending in for a 50% off voucher at for the Sheraton in NYC. Costs me 1000 points.
Just a little trick of the trade. Saving me $800 over 4 nights.

I see the card comes with 25,000 points, should I call them and ask for more? I was thinking I may call them and say I read that people were receiving 100,000 points and if there is anything I can do to get that.

You won't get it. Slimmer chances once it's activated.
If you're a previous card holder that upgraded you're not even eligible for a bonus.

Nice tip.
My wife and I have a ton of SPG points. We're going back in the fall and staying at the Sheraton.
12k points a night plus 5th night free. 48k points for 5 nights. Would be over $2k rack rate.

What airlines is the platinum losing club lounge access with March 2014?

I believe they are targeted offers.

Well it's a 3:1 conversion rate from AMEX points. Not really good.
There is a promotion they are running right now for 2,500 points a night if you stay 5 nights before mid April. Way to accumulate points for vouchers. I'll never rack up that many SPG points.

Seems like a lot of people are really upset about the club access changing in March 2014... I can't imagine the card losing it's biggest perk and not changing the annual fee or adding perks... I'm not expecting you to have an answer but that is a big issue

Meh. American Airlines? Nah. Delta club is everywhere AA is.
Posted on 1/21/14 at 9:58 am to Platinum
Oh I agree... Delta is all I use... but Delta is changing their +1 format and charging a fee apparently ($29 for a +1)
