As Afro said the Avios are best for those of us on the east coast. They're great for Dulles-Miami on AA.
I'll find a way to use them. I just hate seeing them get devalued twice in the same year. Once by American Express on the transfer and now by British Airways on the redemption.

Seriously, dude?
What link did you click to get this card, a 4 leaf clover?

In all fairness, I did use the same link to apply for both of my USAir cards, but only one of them shows the 10k point upon annual fee promotion.
Who knows.
Family Dollar declined my Serve load yesterday. Going to be disappointed if that gift card liquidation method goes defunct on me. I've got $1,500 in OVs to unload and $1,500 of Staples $300 cards on the way and I hate dealing with Kate. She goes down more than Teddy.

My dad always said if you're going to do some thing , do it right...and often.
My Kate is always up. I have to drive far to get to her, but at least dependable

In other news, I came up for air long enough to apply for the Chase IHG card.
I'm going to apply for my wife as well so we have those 2 free nights a year and see how that goes. I think it should work out well for us. $88 for 2 nights anywhere is good for me.
Kinda strategic maneuver as well as I only have a Freedom and a British Airways that I applied for in May. Figure I get IHG now, and then I'm eligible for the United card bonus again in March 2016 so that puts enough space in the apps to not raise any flags hopefully.
Oh, and Chase gave me $29,000 on this card

I currently do not have a credit card that I use for regular spending, but am looking to apply for one. I plan to spend roughly 300-600 dollars a month on this card(basic expenditures) and pay it off regularly. I don't care about APR/Balance Transfer benefits.
Which card would be the best for my situation from a cash back/rewards perspective? I should have a pretty good credit score due to making large purchases on my other card that's linked to Merrill.
I was thinking Citi Double Cash would be good, but wanted to see if anyone had any other suggestions.

Citi double cash is a good one
Amex blue cash preferred is good if you spend a decent amount at grocery stores, but there is an annual fee
Chase sapphire preffered is a good points card, and will be the next one I apply for

Which offer did you sign up for? It's a good card to hold on to for a couple and to apply around the same time as each other. I'm using ours in London next summer where they have plenty of IHG properties and rooms are over $400/night in the city center . I also bought points when they were ~.50/point which gave me one night at less than half price.

I just hit 2 years as well, but won't apply until I cancel my SW cards as I have 5 cards between personal and business right now.
The inability to pick up new UR cards definitely hinders the ability to rack up United points. 1 card doesn't even get a biz class seat anywhere really.

I think mine is around 18k and I've used it like 3 times. The card is pretty terrible for anything but the free nights.

Sitting in the Centurion Lounge in Miami having drinks waiting for the next leg of my flight to St Croix. First class both ways all on miles. Anyone that has the ability to play this game and doesn't is a fool IMO.

Very nice and I agree. It's crazy how quickly travel has become enjoyable instead of means to an end.
Enjoy your trip. I've never made it down to St Croix when visiting the USVI.

Appreciate it. Don't spend a whole lot at grocery stores, so I think I'm gonna go with the double cash.
Chase sapphire preferred will be my next as well.

Thanks pal. I'm a bit apprehensive about St Croix but we want to check it out. Real estate is much more affordable on the island and I'm intrigued by the Dutch history.

Ya, my wife has 4 personals with Chase but that is it.
Her application went to "Call us," but I read it is best these days to wait it out, so I'll do that and only have her call in if we get a denial. I had gotten 10k in credit lowered before I applied so that shouldn't be a stumbling block.
We end up going to weddings in major cities all the time that can get expensive, like Intercontinental Boston, so even if we don't use them overseas we should have a reason each year.
Ya no plans to put spend on it. We applied for the 60k plus $50 statement credit. I have 11,000 points with them so I'll have 70k + her 60k hopefully plus $100.

I used mine in Chicago this year. $500/night. Got upgraded to a $900/night suite. Well worth the $44/card.

Didn't even know that was the offer these days. Not bad.

Ya apparently if you have status there is an 80k offer no statement credit.
To get this one you have to go through the booking process and then you'll see if at the bottom of the screen. You can get the 80k offer same way if you have status

I don't know if you were still having trouble with this, but I loaded today and it worked.

Any advice on whether to wait out Citi for a pending app or call them? I've been churning AA Exec cards through invitations they keep sending to my house. This is the first one that went to pending. If I call, they will surely see the churn pattern if the agent has half a brain...

They should still match 80k offer on ihg if you send chase a SM

I got $24k and I've been using that thing like a banshee as the idea was to get 5 nights over the water in Bora Bora. Between my wife and I we have over 250,000 pernts so I just need to see the availability pop up in either Nov or April, shoulder season. If not, this POS won't be used again and we'll use those points in some nice hotels. But I think the $98 is worth keeping for the 2 free nights we'll get. Even a staycaction in the Hawaii hotels they have are worth at least $500-$700 for 2 nights.
But they'll lose my full spend if I can't just get what I got the card originally for

Is it an Exec card that's pending or another card? You can't churn the Exec card anymore.
