I did it for 4 1/2 years as my first job out of college. Yes, you annoy people and hear "no" a lot, but it taught me everything about sales. I actually enjoyed the thrill of the chase and taking people from not having a clue about you, your company, and the products you offer to yes please, how can I get some more?

I left due to poor management and sometimes miss that thrill.

It's definitely a skill that not everyone has and should be coveted.

Not necessarily asking if you are only looking to do sales, but in general as an employer...how much do you value inside sales/cold calling for potential employees? I am currently in a position like this and absolutely hate it. Thoughts? Anyone else on the board have a previous job like this? I have to make around 150 calls a day. Just FYI

Cold calling to leads that have at one time or another shown interest in your product or services is the most effective, least expensive way to do business.

If you don't believe in what you're doing or selling, find something else to do. No one is forcing you to stay.
