CFA Level 1 Question

Any MT posters that have taken or are studying for CFA Level 1: Did you purchase supplemental study material outside the books provided by the institute? I was looking at the Schweser (Kaplan) study packages and wondering if it is necessary to purchase more than just the base line package that includes notes.
Any insight or guidance is much appreciated.

Reading the curriculum books are a highly inefficient use of your likely limited time. They are good primary source resources and they're good to look into for extra problems and maybe an alternative way of learning concepts. They are not the best for passing the exam.
Packages like Schweser outline everything you need to hone in on for the actual test without getting lost in walls of boring text that isn't tested. In the absence of further guidance it's exceedingly challenging to really understand what is going to actually be tested. Spending too much time on the CFAI material is candidly detrimental to your score.
The base Notes or Essentials (Notes + Qbank) should be good enough.

Yes, especially for L1, the Kaplan Q bank is a must. Frankly you could probably past L1 just doing Q bank questions. Read the books and take notes but when in doubt do more questions than read. The Q bank has 5k+ questions and i suggest doing all of them, if so you will pass. L1 isn't crazy hard. L2 on the other hand...
eta: I passed L1 & L2 without so much as cracking the institute material.

I am interested in just how many CFAs there are in Louisiana and who are their typical employers here.
Louisiana is not much of a money center. Are CFAs here working nationally or are they working in oil and gas finance? commercial banking?
Just curious.
