Buying a house and raising it?

Looking at a house on a bayou in Madisonville. The house is only about a foot off the ground, they say they didn't flood last hurricane, I kinda don't believe them!
Either way, I would want to lift the house, probably 10 feet or so.
A) I have no idea how much it costs to lift a house. It is currently on piers, so it should be pretty easy
B) If I lift it I'd want to add a nice front porch and all that, right now it has no porches
C) this house is about 100 years old and in Madisonville, whos approval would I need to do this and could I get this approval before buying the house?
Any estimates on what any or all of this would cost?

i used to work for a guy in college and we raised houses in cocodrie. I don't know how figures were calculated, but it was 50-60k to raise an average house about 10 ft. That was about 10 years ago.

I remember for a while they advertised you could get grant money and/or tax credits, anyone know if that is still the case?
The house is in A-10 flood by the way

You may check code because if I recall correctly in that area depending if you have to replace piers you may have to poor a continuous footing and that could double your cost...IIRC

I have a feeling it would be a better use of your money to build new and have them build it one story above ground than to hire a company to lift a house up thats old and established
