What's the consensus here? Short July or October?

So when you buy the put for say 1$ /put, that means you are spending 100$ right?

I bought $23 puts.

Gene - You're correct. If you buy a call or a put, you are buying the right, but not the obligation to either buy or sell one hundreds shares. So in my case today, I bought the right to sell at $23, by July 19th expiry. Whatever I paid, which was about .50 IIRC, is multiplied by 100.

When you buy a put or call, the max you can lose is what you paid. And then only if you're fairly foolish as you can sell these at any time for either a gain, or a loss (stop loss).

BOIL already owns Natural Gas Future 06/26/2014 (NGN4).

UNG is buying June on both ICE and NYMEX.

DGAZ, as much info as they release anyway, indicates 100% in June contracts.

The cash contracts are getting closer to outlying contracts.

It's starting to get interesting.

The only thing I wasn't clear on was if the put/call was multiplied by 100 (or for every share). Makes sense now but wasn't clear

I just listed the futures prices. The chart didn't come out formatted very well. The second link should take you to the page of today's holdings for UNG. They are already selling May as low as $4.53, and buying June at $4.545.

That eats in to their NAV. Cash contract is $4.53. The futures contracts always go up (contango) or down (backwardation) to match cash contracts the closer the contract gets to expiration.

Hopefully this is better:
