I've been in the local BB quite a few times recently. Very few people in there. There are a lot more people in the new Dollar General down the street from my home. I like to look at things like that.....locally in this situation.

Did anyone come close to "catching the falling knife"....i.e., buying near $12 and riding back up to almost $30?

quite the opposite for me.

I bought at around $39 or so (IIRC)and have just been watching it crawl back the past couple of months. I didnt realize it had made it back so far until you bumped the thread. I will probably look to sell soon as I believe what many others do that this company has no long term potential in its current format.

Do it, it's kind of sad. I used to love going there.

I've been on the sidelines but I'm thinking about shorting the shite out of this stock.

People go to best buy to look at and learn more about the product, then go home and purchase it for less on the internet.

The only two things that can really justify me buying from Best Buy is if the product is cheaper there or if I need the product immediately. Even if timing is important, it is hard for me to pass up using my Prime membership if the product is eligible for Prime. I rather enjoy myself in my spare time and let the product show up on my door then go walk around the store and be harassed with questions about buying a warranty or if I know why I should get 8 gbs of RAM compared to 4 gbs of RAM.

I know many are forecasting doom for Best Buy, but there is active legislation and policy changes that may add sales tax to online purchases. Amazon is coming to FL in the next few months and sales tax will be added for FL residents. The company (Amazon) has stated that they expect their sales will suffer in FL if this happens but hope that faster turnaround will keep customers.

If this taxation happens nationally the in-store retail/online retail dynamic will change but to what degree? There will always be some people who will buy at in-store retail as they would rather have product in hand and the wait and additional costs dont bother them.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few months...

In all honesty, I wish Amazon would go ahead and add sales tax to the purchase. At the end of the year I have to go through all of my online invoices and record my purchase data to come up with my 'Consumer Use Tax' on my state return. It is simple to do, yet the time adds up considering how much I purchase off of Amazon each year.

In their defense, their pricing is coming more in line with Amazon's offerings

That is the problem. They can't survive off of those low margins.

Because we all need that little obscure part and they are the most convenient to carrying them. Plus, the common wires and shite are cheaper than paying BB prices.

I read somewhere that best buy was going to start renting out their in-store spaces to companies like apple, and cut out some useless space for this like DVDs and music aisles. Music and DVD aisles are pretty much useless for most of us. But its nice to walk into a BBY when you are looking for that certain obscure movie that you cant find at Walmart or don't want to wait for it to come in the mail.

Sears is attempting to do the same with their real estate.

That is why you have streaming services.

Yeah, I've seen Sears in really old shitty buildings around my parts. Must have been a cheap buy.

Amazon lets you sort by all purchases for a calendar year.
