With woman's hospital turning into the new earl k long, I would not want to be north of old Hammond hwy but thats just me. I just moved away from that area and it's going downhill fast

What are you talking about?

OLOL-Essen is becoming the new EKL and Woman's Hospital is moving to south Baton Rouge next year.

From what I hear OLOL is taking over the teaching hospital aspect of EKL, but they are cherry picking what they will do such as no OB/GYN, no walk in clinic. There are rumors that both the General and OLOL have considered the present Womans Facility to expand to.

I don't know about that, but I do know that it will be a level one trauma center.

The Business Report had an article recently about the many options. They definitely need to find something to occupy that space.

Looking at buying a house soon. It would be my 1st. What are some good subdivisions to look at? I think I need to be around $250,000.

If you'd consider Dutchtown I have a house in a great location that I would sell for about 240K. It's in a great location and very close to BR, on the Nicholson side of the interstate, so very easy to get and has a lot of great ameneties...nice back porch with gas line for BBQ pit, 30 amp receptacle near the gas line(I'll let you figure out what that's for since I can't say that it's a generator plug), in ceiling surround sound speakers, outdoor speakers in the back, fenced yard, 2 car garage, 1800 sq feet 3 bedrooms, a computer nook, and 2 baths..hit me up if interested...it is tenant occupied until February, and then tenants would like to sign another 6 month lease, so you could always let them pay your first 6 months of equity.....dillpicklelsu@yahoo.com

Top three:
Zealand Gardens
Southdowns
Capitol Heights

If you prefer larger yards and willing to sacrifice a little character:

Tara
Hidden Ridge
Shenandoah
Broadmoor

Really depends on where you work...

Have friends living in both areas that think the neighborhoods are in a steady decline, especially Broadmoor.

There have been several daytime burglaries in Broadmoor where they kick in the door and are out of there before the alarm company has time to dispatch anyone.

Do you find that nearby White Oak Landing is going downhill as well?

Have no idea really, but the White Oak area is a lot more upscale than Shenandoah which probably helps. Shenandoah is or was the largest subdivision in Baton Rouge, what part of it you live in probably matters. The new houses on the old golf course seem very nice, but y friends living there say some of the older parts with smaller houses seem to have a lot of forclosures and short sales.

I guess the smaller houses are near Jones Creek behind the Circle K?
