Why would anyone not have closed them a long time ago?

Unless you have 7+ digits to the left of the decimal point in accounts and/or a private banking relationship, ALL of the money center banks see you as nothing more than an account number on a screen. Doesn’t matter if it’s BofA, Citi, Chase, etc. I’ve been with BofA (including regionals they bought out) for all of my adult life. I’ve stayed because I’ve had no reason to leave and it’s not like another money center would do anything more for me. Plus it would be quite the job to disassociate my accounts from them... and for no benefit. But they get no added value from me. I haven’t paid a fee probably since I was in college and I had an account with Sovran. Nowdays I finance property purchases and other things through local banks where I’m not just a number. I had a good private banker at BofA. But anybody good will either move up or move out within a couple of years.

So what BofA (or any of them) pays their tellers has no affect on me.
