I just received an invite from my Financial Services firm to hear about Atlas Resources Series 34-2014. I have no experience with energy investing. Is this legit? Something I should consider going to? Atlas is hosting the event and the unit cost is $25000 per.

Atlas Resources is a MLP. Maybe they are offering new units? It's probably legit, might be neat to go hear a presentation directly from them.

Atlas is a drilling program where you invest money. You get a direct tax write off of around 85% of your investment for IDCs. You then receive royalty checks as long as the wells produce. It is a decent deal if you have a lot of income and you want to offset taxes.

sounds like a good way to lose money. you should probably fire your investing firm for even suggesting that to you.
