Anyone use upwork.com before?

It's a freelance website that allows companies and freelancers to post jobs or bid for jobs in a few different areas.
I'm a CPA and I thought maybe I would pick up some bookkeeping work on the side for a little extra $.
The service fee is steep. The website takes 20% off the top of everything paid to you by the company for the first $500 they pay you, 10% for every dollar thereafter until they've paid you $10k and then 5% the rest of the way.
Wasn't sure if anyone had any experience with this site, the type of companies posting work here, etc. Would appreciate any insight.

I use it to purchase services like accounting, bookkeeping, tax prep and website development.
Couldn't hurt to fire up a profile and bid on a few jobs.

I use upwork for hiring data entry folks, and overall the experience is good.

I've used it on the side a few times. It works well as a side gig.

I've been on there for a while and submitted to a few tech postings, but it's hard competing with people overseas bidding to do work for a fraction of what you're willing to do it for.

What you pay usually?

I have hired many people off upwork and fivver. I like fivver a little better. If you are specialized, you can make some good side money if your specialty is needed.
Just make sure to work cheap until you get reviews.

For data entry folks, about $6/hour. For web developers about $3K/month.

If anyone reading this needs some data entry done. I have a Filipino girl that works for me on occasion that is incredible. I hate I don't have more work for her.
Always on time and triple checks her work.

The data entry folks I use are from the Philippines as well.
