interested in learning more about the certification and training towards pursuing this.
There are tons of places to get training online, but as with any eduction, it should come from a respectable source, no?

I'm in the process of enrolling into a Certification course now.
The bottom line is nobody "owns" Six Sigma or Lean and there is no single body which governs the credential. There are agencies like the ASQ which would have you believe there are strict guidelines for Certification, but there are not. As a result two major routes have emerged for people go through, either a online or classroom based University/College or an employer based on the job type Certification.
Anecdotally, it appears that employer based certifications are not thought of as being transferable. Meaning if you get one through your job and leave the employer your future employer may or may not recognize the credential. For that reason I'm pursuing the online/classroom setting as they appear to be universally accepted. My local University offers a course for Green and Black Belts and Villanova University is probably the best known for online certifications.
