I purchased a new vehicle today. I called the dealer before going and was told that the vehicle had a specific options package that was important to me. The car is not brand new but is barely used.

My daughter had a breakdown while I was at the dealership and they were detailing it so I did not check for that options package as I was rushing to get out of the dealership to help my daughter. I noticed that the option was missing when I got home and showed the car to my wife.

How should I handle this with the dealership and what options do I have with them? I have emailed the sticker to them showing that the option is missing.

It obviously wasn't that impt to you if it took till you got home to realize it wasn't there.

Once you sign on the line that is dotted, it is a done deal.

However, with local and social media, plus word of mouth, the dealer may be willing to work with you, especially if you have done business with this dealership before.

What that will look like will be based upon how well you ask and who you are speaking with ...

Good luck.

Was the option included on a sticker or some other form or vehicle representation?

Is this a dealer option, or a factory option?

Thanks. It was an upgraded leather package with ventilated seats. The car already has very nice leather and in my rush to help my daughter I simply didn't notice.

I did end up $11k under list for getting a 5 month old car with 8k miles on it so I am happy with it.

Somewhat related. I will be buying a new vehicle later this year. How much can I negotiate off the sticker price of say a $24K Nissan Altima. Excellent credit so I plan on taking advantage of 0% financing next time it rolls around. Thanks

They've had at least 2 recalls in the last 10 months...so, a lot.

Because it was the only options package that was important to me and I clearly stated that and was told it had the package when I called. We're talking about a 5 month old car here.

Another dealership nearby was sourcing a new car for me with the options I wanted. I chose the used one because it was $11k off of list and I thought it had the options I desired.

You can get away with $41,200.00 minus any other rebates they may have.
