American Express or Discover Card

I'm 28yrs old and the only credit card I've owned is a shitty Capital One card. No rewards or points or any benefits to speak of.
I've narrowed it down to the American Express Premier Rewards Gold card vs the Discover It Miles card. Which would be best for me?
I have fairly good credit, high 790s. I understand the Amex is a charge card, but that isn't an issue since I pay off my card every month.

If you’re wanting to rack up points then I’d personally get the Amex Everday preferred. You’ll rack up a good bit more points on it than the Gold or Discover card.

Check out the Wells Fargo Propel. it's Amex. 3x points for dining, 3x points for travel etc not annual fee.
Along with a bonus 30,000 points if you spend 3000 in 3 months.

unless you're going for airline miles the amex blue cash preferred card is the way to go
