Its almost like a self imposed disciplining process. I know myself well enough to know that if I leave $500 bucks in there, I'll find something to spend $475 on that I probably didn't need. So we don't just keep cash readily available for our weak-willed sensibilities. Everything we do is intentionally planned out. If we decide that we want something, we have to endure a little (albeit very minor) inconvenience. We've even go as far before as keeping our savings account at a different bank so that the transfers are not immediate.
