Out of curiosity, why would someone down vote soemone suggesting to learn the business and position themselves to be more marketable in their company?
Analytics is big demand these days and someone with financial acumen and ability to move through disciplines only opens up more doors.

If you already have most of the non-accounting hours the CPA requires, you might consider an online certificate program. Some very well-regarded schools offer them, such as UVA (one of the top accounting programs in the US and where I did mine), plus many others.
Also realize that just having a CPA doesn't mean you're automatically doing auditing or tax work. Plenty of CPA's do completely different things such as internal controls, business formation, ERP consulting (this is what I do), plus many other areas. It's a very versatile area.
You may also want to look into nonprofit and/or government accounting. These are often overlooked and not covered well by most accounting programs but the money can be just as good and there's often less competition coming out of school.
It's a good field, go after it!

I wasn't suggesting that you can't have a family and work Big 4. Of course you can, I realize that. You just can't spend nearly as much time with them as you can outside of Public Accounting. I left Public 8 years ago and have not worked a single hour of OT since I left.
And while you won't ever set the world on fire working in Govt, you certainly can make well over $100K a year, and that is plenty for me and my family. I have no desire to be a partner and work 60 hours a week and travel. I enjoy being home with my family at 4:15 every afternoon.
No offense if Big 4/Public is the career someone chooses, it just isn't for me.
