yep, at that point, JJ's gonna get up to the line, spike it with players still running onto the field.

that would be freaking retarded.

Because what he did do was so much better. lol

We all saw what he did. We all saw how that turned out (thank you Tenn). Burning a down and getting a 5 yard penalty >>>> than what we saw. You cannot argue what he should have done in his defense, because we saw what he did! His inaction lost the game, we were given a gift instead.

Its stunning how ignorant you have become, and how quickly it happened

Poor JJ, saw him today; looks like he lost 92,600 of his best friends.

such bullshite

the indecisiveness and complete and utter lack of prep by the coaching staff lost the game

period

because guess what? if jefferson is given any kind of fricking directions before his option play, none of the chaos at the end even happens.

I would make an argument that if our players, who have been playing football most of their lives since they were 10ish, need instruction on what to do when you are 1 yard from the endzone with approximately 20 seconds left in the game then they shouldn't be out there.

And I would argue that calling for a spike with 20 seconds left when you have two downs remaining is quite possibly the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

It is incredible easy to run two plays in 20 seconds when you have a competent staff that can get a play called in less than 10 seconds.

The problem is we don't have a competent staff.

Again, if Jefferson had called for a spike with 15-20 seconds left, every single person blaming him today for not calling a spike would hollering that he was an idiot for wasting a down when we could have run two plays.

Try this one

"Hey guys, I know that my coach is a blitthering buffoon, so I went ahead and snapped the ball with 5 seconds while he had his thumb up his arse. I then proceeded to hand of to my boy Ridley who ripped into the endzone. We celebrated as we ran off the field winners."

You see in that scenario he could have taken credit for being a good field general and leader on the field.

Oh wait I forgot we were talking about Jefferson.

I don't think I'm blaming him for not spiking, but I definitely wouldn't have minded him getting the offense together and spiking it with a few seconds left. It's bad that our coaches' incompetencies puts our players in tough spots. to Miles and Crowton

we've established that his hands were tied at 15-20 secs cause that when the hat and the wizard decided it would be a good idea to change packages.

not buying it. No QB in his 3rd year of starting needs the coaches to tell him his every move.

But, if thats true, then he should have never been a starting QB in the SEC for 3 years

For you not to admit that Jefferson may have been able to handle the last 5-10 seconds better in spite of the idiots on the sideline is a bit ridiculous IMO.

Let me see if I get this right from 35 seconds left to :00 Jefferson played as well as he could and made all the right decisions in your book???

Actually, I don't think we know what would have happened if Hebert hadn't snapped the ball prematurely. Hebert stated that he made the decision to snap the ball. Things might be different if he would have waited just a half second.

Unfortunately, we will never know. You can only guess.

but every QB does need direction with less than a minute to go inside the 10 yard line. especially since it appears THEY DON'T EVEN PRACTICE IT that often, as per stevan ridley's quote.

well, he's a terrible QB, but this is a different discussion for a different thread.

i think he went in the game when he probably shouldnt have. was told to run a play, then look back for another play. that's it. he was given no direction, no plan, no nothing. then the problem was compounded by a moronic substitution.

you can draw your own conclusions

i'm not a jefferson fan in the least bit, but god damn, give him a break. jarrett lee would have failed in that scenario as well.

Clocking it is not the right answer anyway. Run a quick pass and get 4 downs out of it.

Perhaps not for you, but I'd rather JJ clock it than have him throw a quick pass into the end zone when we have another chance to pick up two yards on fourth down. (chance of a completion in the end zone long shot, an interception or pass for less than two yards in bounds high. He wasn't put in for his passing skills.

This is a possibility.....but I will still go to my grave wondering what in the hell possessed Miles to bring in Jefferson and then run him when you have the best running back in the SEC behind him
