Ziegler wanted a shot at DH and not just be a pitcher and that wasnt going to happen with all the talent on the offensive side.

You're obviously clueless to the mismanagement by our former pitching coach. He still has a very good shot at signing a MLB contract, just watch.

Yeah cause the pitcher they kept instead really was lights out.

He felt he was better than a situational pitcher, Arky sure thought so- they were willing to give him a full ride out of HS. Stay tuned...he's throwing better NOW than ever and that comes from someone who threw a pen with him recently.

So you think the last roster spot came down to Ardoin and one other player? Okay then, who was the pitcher that they kept?

Shane has made very good friends with players still on the team and is very close to some (especially Schimpf) no need to call anyone out. You know everything anyway.

To say he was garbage is off the hook, here's a reminder that he did have some good outings that do show his capabilities.

From lsusports.net:

quote:

Made 11 relief appearances, posting a 5.93 ERA with no decisions ... worked 13.2 innings, allowing 10 runs (nine earned) on 10 hits with nine walks and 17 strikeouts ... opponents batted just .192 against him ... superb relief outing at third-ranked Arkansas (May 6), limiting the Hogs to one run on two hits in three innings with three walks and three strikeouts; Ardoin entered the game in the sixth with LSU holding a 3-2 lead and he left in the ninth inning of the Tigers' 5-3 victory ... another impressive relief outing at New Orleans (April 18), allowing just one unearned run on one hit in five IP with no BB and seven Ks ... worked 1.1 critical relief innings in the eighth and ninth frames at Mississippi State (April 22), helping LSU hold on for a 3-1 win; allowed no runs on one hit with two walks and one K.

The pitcher that stayed had a higher ERA though that's deceiving cause he threw in many more innings but, again, not trying to bring down one player to make my point.

I'm not saying the dixie youth program didn't abuse arms because they did but he had a really good high school pitching coach. Todd Ardoin who was the all time saves leader at Tulane for a while, I don't think he still hold that but good coach and good guy.

That's irrelevant and not sure why would you'd want/need to know?

One thing I did fail to mention is that I'm not criticizing the decision to let him go; on the contrary, when a coach win's a National Title you tip ya hat to him. Just felt the criticism Shane was receiving was a bit harsh- Shane worked very hard, loved playing for the Tigers, and he's a great kid.

"were you offered a scholarship at LSU? Get a life, punk!

amen, brother. seems lots of folks like to sit on the sidelines and throw insults. chalk it up to immaturity, i guess. some people have no idea how hard it is to earn a college scholarship offer. it's a job. student athletes don't have time to sit around a computer and critisize others; they are too busy doing. sometimes, the insults on here make me sick.

And still do. I went watch some All Star games in VP last year and every fourth pitch was a breaking ball. VP is known for wreckin arms.

Hollywood is but Duplechin is the guy behind the scenes and he would never jeopardize a kid's arm/health. They (SHS) need to put up some $$ and get him on staff.

Ardoin showed some promise as a freshman and then failed to build on that as a sophomore. He fell victim to a numbers crunch last year, shite happens. Was he a better pitcher than a guy like Spencer Mathews? Probably, but that one roster spot isn't going to make a lick of difference in the performance of this team.

I agree, I pitched from 8-15 and when I got to high school my arm felt like it would fall off after one inning. You must be from VP, I played for both guys and they are both top notch coaches but I seriously doubt SH will ever pony up the money to keep anyone worth keeping.

Good assessment, Shane was expendible. Good enough to make an argument for his being kept...or being released. Injury had a lot to do with his falling off during his soph. year, as everyone is aware. Supposedly he's rested/rehabbed and "healed up". Time will tell.

Musta killed him to see his friends dog piling after the CWS win and not be able to be there with his pals. Life's a bitch, what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.

Hell no but I did play against T Joe, Rab, and that bunch that had a lot of success. In all my years we beat them once. I pitched that complete game but we couldn't get the second win to go on.
