So you live vicariously through teenagers and young adult males? Must have a pretty sad life.

Not a bad fan just a sad individual.

Alot of people can win at Alabama. Theres not 1 coach that didnt win at Alabama that ever won anything anywhere else. Many coaches could win 8 games a year there.

He's still a very good coach and he cant help inheriting the best gig. Cant hold his success against him. 3 out of 4 is 3 out of 4. Thats an incredible feat regardless of how.

Both 2011 and 2012 were so close to being LSu's but instead both years go to the former coach. Changed the landscape on how these two are perceived.

As for as LSU goes... After Nick fricked us over big time, Miles came to the rescue. This guy hit the ground running and has never stopped. What he has accomplished at LSU takes a back seat to no one.

As a very avid lurker, this is probably the most realistic post I've seen regarding our former/current HC's. LSU built Saban's career more than the other way around. Most coaches with half a brain can win at Alabama as well..

Like him or not Gerry Dinardo left LSU with an abundance of talent. Dinardo was a bad HC (Couldn't hire or keep good asst coaches) but he recruited well. I cringe when people say Nick built LSU. His first year we lost to UAB and unranked Rkansas.

Nick built on the talent base that was already at LSU and did the same at Bama. He is the best recruiter in college football. Beyond that, I contend he is average at best. Consensus #1 ranked recruiting classes the last 5 years will produce a lot of W's regardless of how effective a coach you are.

Some here would sacrifice their first born to win a championship. Not me. In the end its teenagers playing the game they love and trying to have fun. I'm on their sides.
It's a lot more fun PLAYING in S.E.C. and National Championship games than WATCHING them on TV.

You and your kind have never actually participated in any kind of athletic competition. Yall have no competitive fire like those that have actually worn a jock strap. Those that have played don't like losing and don't like finishing in second place.........

The Luckiest Coach LSU has had, LSU wins in spite of Miles.

There you go, fixed it for you.

Bama has finished in the top 5. I repeat top 5. For the last 7 years.

They are in the hunt all the way to the last game every year. unlike Miles who starts high and is out the hunt shortly after the SEC season starts. With a few exceptions.

To say Miles and Saban are in the same Universe is absurd.

sometimes you need luck. do can't always win on talent alone. I've always argued for Miles over Saban and people think I'm crazy and I really dgaf.

Love Les, Win More

2015 will be special. book it.

Saban is a jerk. Saban is well spoken and relies on previously memorized sound bites.

Les is not as glib.

Saban makes me realize what a bad person I sometimes am at heart.
I wish I could:

Miles is honest, and no one is loved more by his players (which should mean a lot to you)

Nope. Doesn't mean a damned thing to me. I could not care less how honest he is or how his players feel about him, provided they perform well on the field.

Sabin seems like a jerk. I think winning is important, but so is having a good guy as your coach.

By all accounts Jerry Stovall was an absolutely great guy. Super loyal, very kind, a stand-up guy in every respect. Guess what? I don't care. He couldn't cut it in the won-lost record, so it didn't matter one iota what a nice guy he was. And yes, Saban is, according to nearly everybody who has dealt with him, a jerk. But, I didn't care about that, either. When he was our coach, pretty much all I cared about was how good the team was. Just like with every other coach we've ever had.

I have never seen a single example of a team in any sport getting votes in the polls or a bid to a playoff tournament or bowl game because their coach was a good guy. Coaches are not paid seven-figure salaries to be good guys. There are tons of great people who would be more worthy than any coach out there if that were the criterion. Coaches are paid to produce great teams and win championships. The only people who care about anything else are the ones who are making excuses for a coach who isn't doing well enough at what he's really being paid to do.

herein lies "the problem". I know of no one that would disagree with you. "the problem" is that a segment of LSU fans simply will never be satisfied with miles BECAUSE he's not as good as Saban. never mind that Saban wasn't as good here as he is at bama; never mind that Saban will never return to LSU and never mind that if these yahoo's run Miles off we PROBABLY (and imo, we likely) would end up with a coach that's not as good as Miles. Why? because top flight coaches don't grow on trees.

Within the last three years, both Auburn and Ole Miss have hired new coaches that, in just their first two and three years, respectively, have each 1) beaten Alabama, which LSU hasn't, 2) beaten LSU and 3) had a better season than LSU. And that's at Auburn and Ole Miss, neither of which has nearly the advantages and resources that LSU has. These two coaches, prior to arriving at Auburn and Ole Miss, had a COMBINED college football head coaching resume` of three years at Arkansas State.

Now, if two schools lower in the SEC pecking order than LSU can go out and find two coaches with a combined three years in the Sun Belt who can do, arguably, better than Les Miles has at LSU in the same time period, then why in hell would anyone assume that LSU could not find anyone who would do the same?

Agreed, LSU is indeed lucky to have Miles and should lock him up with a lifetime deal today.

The arsehats that need to go for being jerks are Malzahn and Bielema. Oh, and Urban needs to get so immersed in football that it starts taking a toll on his health.

This. Irrespective of however many players Alabama loses in a given year, it's essentially a given that they're going to legitimately compete for a national title every year.

Meanwhile, at LSU, it's gotten to the point where we actually have to wait around and predict the season in which we'll be able to "make a run".

And while at LSU for 5 seasons, Saban had one season ranked in the top 5.

Only 1..............
