Met Morris when I was a young at an Astros game. He was in town with the Pirates and signed my LSU hat when I asked.

Also spent 15 min takling to Kevin Fault at a Carencro HS playoff game. Damien James was there as well but he just introduced himself and walked off.

In college a lot of the LSU football players came to our parties. Herman Johnson is definitely in the top 5 of nicest people I have ever met.

I had a class with Rohan Davey. We had a marketing project to do and he was in my group. He would never show up to work on the project. I remember one time he came and he got a phone call from a tutor and he left. It was supposed to be his last semester and we gave him a failing grade. It's a shame because he was nice enough to take a football and have the whole team sign it for me. We just wanted him to show up and act like he cared a little.

Watching Sonic Sam leave it all on the field game after game and then stand behind the stadium and sign and talk with people for hours on end. Never once did he turn anyone down. No telling how many young men he sold LSU by doing that. Classy guy who makes time for the little people.

Reuben Randle is on a scooter and appears to continue across as our car is about to go through. He stops, motions for us to go and smiles as we go through. Yes, I actually witnessed that.
I hate you now.

Signed,

The Rant and every LSU fan on the planet.

P.S. If you would have taken a picture of that and had Rueben sign it, even the guys on Pawn Stars would understand the relevance of that and shell out some serious Benjamins to own an amazing and rare piece of sports history.

You are one lucky guy.

Best/worst both involve tutoring.

Best - many good experiences with a number of student athletes, including some already mentioned in this thread. Favorites include a current baseball player and a former basketball player. Bball player wasn't well respected as a player but was always polite to me and always said hello whenever we crossed paths, even several semesters after. He graduated last Spring.

Worst was a freshman FB player who didn't take our sessions seriously and caused a lot of trouble.

You're going to have to expound on that. Why would you, what's the, I don't even!

Saw our 07 punter Patrick whatever at Wednedsays at the Square a few years back. Went up and said something stupid like hey, the first time I saw you I thought you were our white linebacker. Geaux tigers.

Saban was a rude prick to my mom at an event before the 03 bcscg.

Trindon. Saw him walking up to his dorm after the 07 MTSU game, in which he had a bad game. I'm pretty tall and thought it would be funny to get a pic with him. He's walking with his entourage when I walked up and asked if he'd get in a quick pic, I had a friend with a camera right there. He didn't slow down, didnt even say anything, just gave me a look like "n please." His entourage looked at me like We'll beat your tall arse if you dont walk away. I laughed at them and still think its funny how tough they all acted. But I still love the little fast fricker.

I had an Econ class with Ron Brooks and we'd talk after class every now and then. Really cool and down to earth. I'd talk to Chad Jones whenever I saw him pass through the Quad during the 2009 season. Chad was a nice guy too.

Also when I was getting textbooks at the Union one time during the 2009-2010 school year, Fr. Kevin Minter got in line behind me and we struck up a conversation. I asked him why didn't he sign with UGA and he said he was turned off by the coaching staff puffing out their chest making a big deal of being preseason #1 for 2008. All three guys seemed like normal dudes and didn't seem egotistical at all.

Only limited but never had a bad experience:

Mike Miley - signed my baseball glove at the "baseball clinic" at Pete Goldsby field in spring, '74.

Jeff Wickersham - just briefly introduced but cordial

Herman Fotenot/Eric Martin - played some pick-up hoops with them one afternoon; both seemed very down to earth.

LaRon Landry - met him briefly few years back when he was training during offseason in Slidell.

When I was in 6th grade, I was hanging after school with some buddies playing basketball. Some "older guys" came and wanted to play, so of course our 11 year old asses weren't going to argue. I got stuck guarding this giant of a dude. He was 6 5 and I had not yet reached 5 ft. but, whatever. Guy I was guarding took every shot from deep in the corner and had a very distinctive shooting style. Not only did he make every shot, he never even touched the rim.

A few days later watching LSU's VERY good 1980 basketball team I realized I was guarding LSU's freshman phenom Howard "Hi-C" Carter.

Back in the early 90's , my mother and step father lived in Spanish Oaks apartments in BR. Our neighbor's nephew was LSU pitcher Henri Saunders. I got the opportunity to meet him and his beautiful sister, who was a bat girl at the time. All nice people!

Played pitch and catch with Eric Martin at Lafreniere Park as a kid on a weekly basis. I loved that guy.

Met Shaq at Clicks. Had lunch @ Jay's BBQ on Gov't with Marcus Thornton. Very nice kid, but was pretty quiet. Played on a volleyball team with a former LSU kicker at Mango's. Interviewed former LSU lunatic Jaime Lloreda for a speech class project. Seemingly a nice guy. Hung with JV at Ringside one night, extremely nice guy.

Not sure if I have a bad former athlete experience. My wife had class with Trindon and didn't have the kindest words for him.

I went out to City Park golf course one random weekday in about 1992ish between classes at LSU to get in 9 holes. I was by myself and ended up meeting two gents at the 1st tee who just happened to be Eric Martin and Dalton Hilliard. Why the frick those two were playing golf at City Park, I will never know...I guess it was just the off-season and they had nothing better to do. I chatted with them a bit and they let me play through since I was solo. Both were super nice and the memory I still have 20 years later is the size of Hilliard's thighs...they were just slightly smaller than an oak tree trunk.

Best: This past season for the USCe game, I made Sam Montgomery a sign that said "Sonic Time" with a drawing of Sonic and after the game waited an hour and a half for Sam to finish up signing autographs and talking to different fans. I talked it up with his family and finally Sam comes out and I show him my sign and I'm like, "Sam I already have your autograph and everything so I just want a picture with you." He looks at me an gives me the biggest hug saying that was the coolest thing someone ever did for him making him the sign I worked my butt off on that thing. Anyways, I told him that I wanted him to keep it and he hugged me again in typically Sonic Sam spontaneous fashion He told me he was going to hang the sign up in his room. One of the best moments of my life.

Worst/But Not Really: Driving back from NOLA on the I-10 last Spring about a week or two before finals and I'm going 80 trying to pass up some slow moving cars. Anyways, a car pulls up behind me going 80 also and tailgating the crap out of me so I speed up to 85 to get in the right lane. Well, the car tailgating me slowly passes me on the left lane and looks at me a good 3 seconds and speeds off at like 90. The person that stared me down was Alfred Blue

ETA: I hope yall can see the pic, hopefully it isn't a red x

Best: Saw Rueben Randle walking on campus after a game. My 5 year old asked him to sign her program and then said to him "Mr. Randle will you take a picture with me?" He was so nice about it. I expected him to bend down beside her but next thing I knew he had picked her up. Snapped the picture and he held her for about 5 minutes and talked to her. Great guy!

Worst: No shocker, but TM7. Same night, my daughter also asked TM to sign her program, no picture just a signature. He looked at her, laughed and said "I have better things to do".
