I just don't think such a young guy like WW would jeopardize such a rewarding future by playing outside the rules enough to be busted.

Wake up! This is how the NCAA money machine operates. It is what all the programs do. They have pulled together "dark pools" of money to pay players a fair wage under the table. It got too big and the money had to start going through illegal channels. It was just a matter of time before the FBI got a foothold into the finances and then got probable cause to investigate.
The entire system is coming to an end and lots of people are going to go to jail.

at you thinking that we didn’t give him 6 figures. The rumor for high level football players was somewhere in the neighborhood of 200k.

If the NCAA is gonna come it’s going to be because stupid fans starting rumors about ridiculous amounts of money like this. That’s how they operate they throw bait out there and let you sink yourself with panic. Dummest fans on earth reside in Baton Rouge.
