I agree. Seems like some programs are untouchable but any other must have cheated because who really wants to go to that school they don't like? NCAA is bored to not have a scapegoat for them to munch on.

I appreciate it. I think everyone but a couple of folks who didn't bother to read carefully knew too. I re-read what I wrote and if anyone bothered to look at what I was responding to they would've known, but sometimes people get so fired up here that their reading comprehension goes to hell.

And then some folks only post when it's to be an a-hole to someone else. Part of the price we pay to be part of an elite internet community.

Anyway, the whole yahoo thing is really a non story but it certainly makes you question their agenda doesn't it?

Who cares? If he doesn't do anything wrong. They will never come back unless they get a tip or some type of evidence.

NCAA will never go after the cash cows.
Kansas had a player sitting out due to loaner car and NCAA hasn't done a thing.
Bama's loaner car program is just as bad, no investigation.

NCAA is nutless! All you have to do is go look at the players parking lot at Alabama, and it would raise cause for concern;yet, you want to mess with Will about the #3 class he hauled in! What about the #1 and #2...this is bull$hit. It is almost as if the perception is that LSU shouldn’t be good in basketball.

Exactly. I mean seriously "hey this coach got accused of some shite but there's no factual evidence to prove any of it, but we are gonna run the headline anyway". That's great journalistic integrity there

Johnny Jones must have left his recruiting handbook and Wade picked it up.

We know why Smart and Reid ended up here....hometown school and girl friend on campus.

Who finished second for Days and Williams? They might be the culprit

So JJ bringing in the #1 player and #15ish player didn’t raise red flags?

I believe UNC for Days and either Oregon/Florida for Williams.

The only thing I could see good about the NCAA snooping around, is that they would only find enough to get Aleva fired!!

I was thinking Florida because Days is from Gainesville and Williams is from Florida.

I don't believe for one minute that Wade was a dishonest recruiter.

quote:

The NCAA’s scrutiny of Wade began not long after his hire at LSU in March, but the inquiry has stalled because of a lack of on-the-record specifics about Wade’s recruiting, according to a source. The NCAA’s information gathering has covered part of his time as head coach at VCU, according to a source.

A "lack of on-the-record specifics" usually means that the complaint is without merit.

This does make you wonder what agenda the NCAA has ...

Wait are you defending Wade? I thought this clickbait would have trolling this morning. NCAA is just as crooked as the FBI.

I am defending him against a hit piece that questions his integrity.

I believe that he is an honest man - nothing suggests otherwise. I also believe in due process - not some vaguely worded media hit piece.

A buddy of mine’s dad was telling us about a dinner he had with Will Wade at Ruffino’s recently. He is part of some booster club, forgot which one, but they get to eat dinner the coaches every once in a while. (He's not some big money guy)

Anyways, he said every 15 minutes Wade’s phone alarm would go off to remind him to go call recruits again. Every 15 minutes he’d step away from his meal at the table and go call and text recruits.

This backs up things Heiar said recently about how relentless of a recruiter Wade is. It sure doesn’t seem like he’s taking the easy route and just paying kids to come to LSU. Seems like he’s just out-working people.

I don't think there is any question Wade is aggressive on the recruiting trail. And I have ZERO DOUBT he is rubbing some other coaches (perhaps big name coaches) the wrong way. I also have zero doubt that he gives a frick about them being mad.

Assuming (for the sake of argument) the timeline in the report is correct in that the NCAA started looking into him "shortly after he took the LSU job", then I can almost guarantee the "investigation" started over the recruitment of Waters. Remember, Waters was a Georgetown signee until they fired John Thompson III in March. Wade pounced immediately, and in the process probably pissed off some people surrounding the Georgetown program, as well as other schools who got back into it with Waters. Wade ultimately won the battle and I suspect he flat outworked some other coaches and probably pissed some off in the process. You know who else pisses people off in recruiting? Nick Saban. Urban Myer, John Calipari. They seem to be doing just fine.
