Like Jim Grobe, who is on the list because if he was hypothetically the coach at Texas he would hypothetically be ranked even higher?

because he takes just a little talent and beats some good teams.

Didn't Miles do the same thing at OSU?

not consistently. 28-21 is pretty pedestrian. Anyone who claims to have been excited about his hiring right away is lying.

It took him one year to turn that program around. He beat OU, who was ranked top 5, two years in a row.

I would never say I was excited. He has, however, grown on me and has gained my trust.

28. Les Miles, LSU. The "Hat" has done enough to prove he belongs among the nation's elite

Since when does being ranked 28 make anyone "elite"?

Pretty weak if you ask me.

Pretty sure OU went around 8-5 when they lost their starting QB to start the season a couple years ago. Didn't Florida go 9-4 two years ago?

I'm still baffled by the love for Kirk Ferentz.

There are so many more I won't even bother to mention. This list is jacked.

I don't think he's bad. I just think he's not a top 10 coach. Maybe in the 15-20 range

I think his resume gives him top ten status alone. Everything else is subjective.

1NC and he's automatically top ten? you're lenient.

Wake's biggest win last year was either FSU or BC. They played only two ranked teams, going 1-1. Wake also lost to Navy, Maryland, Miami, NC State, and Boston College.

In 2007, their biggest win was arguably against FSU or Clemson. They went 1-2 against ranked teams. They also lost to Boston College, Nebraska, UVA and Clemson.

I had to laugh when I saw he was ranked that high as well.

And a sugar bowl.

Never lost a bowl game.

Not to mention his recruiting class.

That's not lenient. Maybe a little biased, but not lenient.

Amazing what five losses will do to your rankings as a coach.

Yep, 5 losses, all to SEC teams (including the eventual National Champion) gets you #28.

But 5 losses to powerhouses such as Navy, Maryland, NC State, Boston College, and a terrible Miami team gets you #7.

It's logical, I swear.

he took osu to a bowl 3/4 years he was there. it's not like they have great tradition. when he first arrived at osu their facilities were horrible to say the least. gundy has a lot more to work with than miles did when he first arrived. i think the mistake he made at osu was not hiring a top dc. had he hired someone like pelini or chavis while at osu his record would have been way better imo. either way he did a good job there. maybe i'm just being a homer but imo he's a top 10 coach.

1 NC, two SEC West titles, Back to back to Back 11 win seasons, undefeated in bowl games (while at LSU). his record against top 25 teams is very good, ect.

this ranking is probabyly becasue they take into account some of his coaching at OSU i bet. But with the talent he can bring in here, skys the limit for Les Miles

I find it amusing that when they listed Saban, they had nothing to say about Alabama
