I remember participating in a similar thread somewhere around Dec 2012. I showed proof that 10 wins is essentially meaningless these days (closer to 8 wins in 1990) while also pointing out that 10 wins will get you in a solid 5th place in the SEC.

I saw that's where LSU would pretty much stay the rest of the time under Miles. Not elite, but good. I was a LITTLE off - we've been just kinda good but irrelevant for 4 years.

Program means facilities, revenue, recruiting base, amenities and luxuries for players, etc. LSU has all that and more.

It's already over for LSU with Miles. Everyone knows that but some just don't want to admit it to themselves.

Yes. We've got the cash, support and facilities. We recruit well and send tons to the NFL.

The on field production hasn't matched but to say the program isn't elite is just silly. This is one of those things that isn't really up for debate.

Only elite team we have fielded was 2011.

I don't know.

What is LSU ranked currently in recruiting?
That should answer this question nicely.

So if we keep recruiting well but regularly lose 3 to 5 games on the field, you're ok with this?

No but that wasn't your question.

Elite everywhere except coaching and qb. Unfortunately, those are probably the two biggest pieces of the "elite program" pie.

LSU, Georgia, Auburn and Florida are 2nd tier SEC teams now. Another words. Its a "Must Start" depending on the matchup and weather. LSU was a "1A or 1B" but that died at BDS a month ago. Bama is superior to us in every facet now.

Of course not. Les Miles is our coach and our passing offense sucks. Might as well shut down the program and focus on track and women's gymnastics.

Honestly it depends on how you define "elite". According to some, the only football program right now that deserves to call themselves elite is bama. I don't think you can just look at a few games or a season or two to determine if a program is elite. Next season is a critical and pivotal year. I think we field an improved, more mature team and compete for a division/conference title and a playoff spot and prove we are in fact still in the ranks of the country's elite football programs.

No, but it's the point I'm making. Elite programs produce consistently well on the field and recruit well too.

Florida is headed in an upward direction though. Auburn and lsu are going downhill.

So lately just Alabama, if the full package is what gets taken into consideration.

Well I guess Ohio State, too.

No.

We're good, but not elite.

If LSU doesn't win the west next year with one of the very best players in the country, that's low hanging fruit for any decent recruiter in the SEC.

If we win the West and play for the title, then it's totally opposite and we're trending back upward. Next year will tell the tale of where this program will be in the future.

We've had legit elite defenses before, and 2011 was one of the best. Its very concerning to me that we have some of the best offensive talent and the highest paid OC in CFB and to completely look like sh*t compared to teams with comparable talent. Its flabbergasting to say the least.

The OP didn't ask us "do you WISH LSU is still an elite program?" he asked us "would you say". Any normal college football fan would say Peach Bowl, Capital One, and Music City bowl are not Elite.

I like how you waited until AFTER the 2012 season to post....lol...when they just lost a heartbreaker that would have likely given them another championship.

You are correct though....10 wins is meaningless.

Just for shits and grins...let's name all the sec teams with more wins than LSU since 2011 (last5 years), 3 years ....would be curious.
