Saban never had a 10 win season prior to LSU.
Saban 1990-1999

LSU had one (1996) ten win season in the same period.

Saban hasn't won anything since leaving LSU...We have a BCS championship.

The real question is where would Saban be if LSU didn't hire him?

Nick Saban has never had back to back 10 win seasons, yet you are proclaiming the greatest coach ever.

So good that in his first year with more than 4 starters recruited by him LSU had a pathetic season.

who is to say that any if not all of those recruits would have gone to LSU regardless of who the coach was? the argument of it was saban's players is the most stupid thing i've ever seen? most kids go to the school they want to play at, period. and saban wasn't coaching those kids, Miles and staff were....LSU won with LSU players, not sabans players.

You're forgetting Miles coached at Oklahoma State before LSU.

He has also never stuck around to coach what he has built. Lets wait and see what happens at Bama in the future.

Its funny the only people who question Saban are disgruntled LSU Fans. The general consensus is he is a prick, who can recruit and coach with the elite of the elite. You know you are wrong when you are in the vast minority.

Heck even Auburn fans note him as being elite.

Get over it corndogs.

And Saban coached at Michigan state. Yet he still managed to prove himself as a recruiter with a national power in the same state. Whats your excuse for Miles?

As I said earlier in the post, Les Miles has a better win percentage and better bowl record than the almighty nick saban, nick saban also has never had a back to back ten season, yet little nicky is a far superior coach?

No..just from 2000-2007..the rest is Miles.

I see no talk about national championships later, and relative talent levels are not relevant. This was never a comparison of Saban versus Miles.

This was about you modifying Mile's "credit" years and not applying the same modification (even though the logic applies for both) to Saban.

So basically this is about you being a hack and just spewing filth.

For example:

quote:

Saban is a proven recruiter...Miles is not.

I guess Saban was the one really recruiting those classes since 2005, right? It takes more than a top 5 average to prove yourself as a recruiter.
quote:

4. Saban's team got significantly BETTER in his 4th year with his first full team...Miles' team got significantly WORSE.

Another fallacy. You are comparing a trend to a single data point. Do you really think this team won't rebound to 06 levels at least? Nah...it is the wheels coming off because of the last handful of Saban recruits leaving. It has NOTHING to do with having to boot your most advanced QB and starting a freshman combined with being unable to find a suitable DC replacement prior to that year. With 2009 about to be written, we don't know how it is going to turn out. But NO ONE expects a repeat of 2008 and most agree that he has rebounded nicely with his coaching choices.

In any case, I am done. No point continuing and I have better things to do than converse with a delusional Bama fan.

Stop watching ESPN. LSU fans aren't nearly the "only" ones.

We have. Apparently though, you haven't. Still stinging after the "so close, no cigar" feeling of last year, eh?

Who's to say Miles or any other coach would have gone after them? LSU had a history of letting kids get out of state, especially the guys that were "3-stars". Miles let Luther Davis, Robby Green, Robby Green, Darrington Sentimore and Eddie Lacy all leave the state to Saban. I can guarantee you they would be in P/G right now had Saban been at LSU.

Now, before you lose you shite and tell me that LSU got better players...hear me out. Because thats exactly my point. Who's to say Miles would have signed all of the LA kids that Saban did, he might have signed a few more OOS guys who he thought were better. You never know.

Bottom line? Saban recruited them to LSU and thats all there is too it.

I'm not arguing that Saban isn't a great recruiter. You're arguing that it's too soon to judge Miles' recruiting ability because the only time when a majority of Miles' recruits, our record was 8-5. Miles coached at Oklahoma State, a program "in the dumps", and took them to the Cotton Bowl and Alamo Bowl. We do have evidence that Miles can recruit.

I will, however, argue that Saban isn't a Top 5 coach.

Your irrefutable (unlike the "facts" your presenting) doucheness will be enjoyed by all here; but, alas, only for a short time. You might have a longer career in the SEC Rant, but it's doubtful.

How many recruits got drafted the last 4 years from Oklahoma State?

I'll hang up and listen....

FOUR!

Do you really want me to make you look stupid and pump out the number of draft picks Saban produced while at Michigan State? Didn't think so.

He produced 4 drafted players from 2006-2009 (his 4 recruiting classes).

Thats not exactly "elite" is it? Matter of fact...its pathetic.

The issue is not the number of players recruited by Miles who turn into NFL draft picks. The issue is whether we can judge Miles' recruiting ability, which has nothing to do with the eventual number of draft picks out of a recruiting class. It has to do with success on the field, which Miles had at Oklahoma State. You're obfuscating the issue with totally irrelevant information.

DinardoEraGrad,

I opened up a can of worms... I wanted opinions and I have plenty of them! BTW, if the impossible happens and UL beats LSU, I will run down I-10 butt naked with a UL flag. Actually, I hope we do good, but LSU will be in the running again for another title game.
