As for future bigs: with the 10 sec violation now in place I'm wondering if abandoning traditional 2 bigs setup and going with a small lineup that presses and traps all game will work. Just go 4 guards and one athletic 6'3''ish big. Let's face it 90% of women's basketball teams would turn the ball over constantly against 40 minutes of hell. I think UK will benefit from this greatly this year.
You actually make a good point. I read on ESPN where Lobo was saying she thinks UK will be a HUGE beneficiary of the new rule. I know in her preseason press conference Nikki did say that we would play a lot of 4-guard rotations this season.................and I've seen a little of that thus far in the two exhibition games and the three regular season games.
I think getting PJ Brown's daughter would be great.....................but I HARDLY think the future of the program depends on it.

I guess those who are pro and con NC will know a lot after this year, but so far I am less than ready to call this a good hire.
Although this doesn't rank up there with recruiting and coaching X's & O's, NC is a very confident and articulate speaker. She's great with the media and great with events - her Harley ride and speech at the "meet the teams" thing bball did last month is a case in point.
I think she makes LSU look good. And that can go a long way.
As to coaching/recruiting we'll see.

Louisville took it to them last week. Player for Louisville said they took advantage of the lazy slow LSU defense late to make their run. If they learn to play D they will be good.

Actually, I was at that game in Louisville. The game was close up until around 11 minutes left in the game (six point game) at that point, Louisville went on like, a 20-0 run. LSU never recovered from that. It wasn't so much that our posts were "lazy". It was that Louisville's post were WAY QUICKER than our posts (and smaller too). Again, it was this team's first road game, against last year's national runner up, who returned 4 of their 5 starters. We hung with them a lot better than I thought we would, considering our youth. By January, this LSU team will be VERY good. Trust me on that.

I tend to agree, but LSUALUm and Saintsfan, would you agree that top 3 SEC finish, sweet 16 or better and no losses to Tulane, La Tech is needed, in other words, what is "less than acceptable" for you for this team this year in year 3 of NC? (assuming no major injuries etc)

I would agree.......
In fact, I don't believe they'll lose to anyone else until they play Tennessee on January 2nd (that would include Tulane and LaTech). The game in Knoxville should be a good one for sure!
As I've said in other posts..................
I believe this team will challenge for the SEC championship AND make it to the elite eight. If they do any less I'd be disappointed but, not necessarily call it a bad year.

I agree, and I will never accuse LSUALUM96 of being uninformed or unfair. I actually would be fine with a sweet 16 and 3rd place SEC finish. Drawing TN and A&M twice each and having to play at UK (this is as bad as our football draw!) is tough so not sure we are going to be near SEC top (within 2 games at end) but do NOT want us falling below 4th in regular season SEC. I am actually fine if we lose one between now and at TN (some tough games and think we may lose at NC St, or Barclays) but any more than one or a loss to Tulane or La Tech would not be good IMHO.
Of course, this can all change and a deep run in NCAA or SEC Trny Championship makes up for a lot of losses. This is NC's team and program now, I was very excited when we hired her, but as I have been open about, I am not enamored with a some of what I have seen so far. But this is the year and as always I am rooting for the team to win big.

Schedule wise, there may be a loss or two before conference play kicks in...but I totally agree this year....a loss to LA Tech or Tulane would be inexcusable. Rutgers will be a tough game at the Barclays, along with whoever else they might play there. Every other game should be a "W" though, with a chance to avenge last year's losses to Hampton and FGCU.
The league schedule is tough...but manageable. Sweet 16 should be attainable since we are at home for the first 2 rounds again...but it is important to have a good regular season to get a good seed. It is a big year in the evolution of Caldwell and the coaches....I agree. I do think this team is up to the task. We shall see...

No. What if they finish 4th in the conference but go to the sweet 16 and have no bad losses or they finsh 2nd in the conference go to the Elite 8 but they lose to Tulane, etc.? There's no reason to put arbitrary when there's a 0% chance she's getting fired.

Ok sainsfan, can you give us any scenario where you will be dispointed/satsfied for the season today? If not fine, and NO ONE (I dont think) said NC was getting fired, just trying to figure out what people who follow the team think is expected for this season...not so tough is it? There can always be circumstances that happen. But hey to each his own. But all other things equal if we finish 4th in sec and get bounced in sweet 16 i'm saying it is a "fair season", could have been worse, likely should have been better. Now if we lose 3 starters early on and ot his I give the team A+...But whatever you do, do not say anything now where you may actaully have to say NC is not the messiah....

How about a straight up "Room mate Switch" with Baylor?
We take Briles and Mulkey and they can have Miles and Caldwell.
Throw in the Athletic Directors and we got a deal!
I'd make that transaction in a New York Minute or Country Second.

Thanks for the Pokey link, a link to the person who because of her 100% unethical, selfish and abhorant actions almost ruined a program that she helped build for 15+ years. Never apologizied and never acknowledged the harm she did. And for those of you who think she got a bad rap from LSU, keep in mind that the $3.5mm+ she sued for was settled out of court for less than $300k and she has not sniffed a college program since then. Oh and that Coach who she hired/promoted at LSU is still with her in Russia/Chicago, our old friend from La Tech who is now openly her "partner" as well. So, we know for a fact she stalked multiple players, promoted her girlfriend and never said sorry. I have no issue with sexual preferences or lifestyles, but this woman near ruined us...cant understand how some still stick up for her. But I digress, Go Lady Tigers!

Than a slug. You are a pitiful example of a human being. Trading Coach Caldwell and Coach Miles would not complete your plan would it? Who should we trade Coach JJ for?
