Oh my gosh, Al, no one has even considered this compelling question before now! Thanks for posting!

JJ will start every game unless injured.
Lee will come in every 3rd series or so, unless JJ is playing lights-out.
Mettenberger MIGHT get some mop-up duty, or if Lee just totally sucks, he could get some series as a change of pace.
If you really think Mettenberger will get playing time before Lee, you haven't been paying attention.

The word you are looking for is experience, not seniority. There is a difference, and Les Miles is certainly not the only coach in the world to put a premium on experience. Lee has more seniority than Jefferson anyway.
So 5 losses in 2012 for LSU? Miles MUST get Mett SOME playing time, not just handoffs against Western Kentucky.
As to the original question, of course JJ will start every game. He's been here 3 years and that takes precedence over everything else. Before you call me stupid or crazy, check my signature. That came straight from JJ's mouth. The only way JJ doesn't start every game for LSU is if he is seriously injured.

As evidenced by last year he started every game and he sucked, so I am convinced it is still possible he could suck and yet still start all the games.
Mett wasn't on the team last year. This will be his first year playing at LSU.

JJ has been starting for two years. JL has one year starting. They have a hugh advantage in experience over Mett. Mett may have the talent to overtake both of them however. He still has time to do it. Depends on a lot of things.

True but JJ sucked for 7 straight games and Lee got the chance and seriously outplayed him in the Tenn and Fla games however JJ continued to start. So I still think it is possible that Jefferson could suck and still start all the games.

The point the other poster is trying to make is JJ's quote reads as he is saying the reason he is starting is because he has been at LSU for 3 years not that he earned it with his performance on the field.

Jefferson beat him out for the starting job head up in the spring.
Link?

Maybe a better question is how many games will JJ be allowed to suck and still keep his starting job?

According to two offensive starters, if Mett is playing QB for LSU this year, then something has gone terribly wrong.
Like 4 touchdowns in a single season
Has any starting QB for lsu thrown less?

He started all 14 games last year and I see him doing the same again this year. Relf learned from his early bumps and bruises against Auburn and LSU and finished the season strong.
You played the equivalent of 3 vandy's at the end.

You mean how many 7-21 68 yard 1 int games will he have..?
Those are typical stats for JJ

Replace seniority with experience and it's the same thing. Doesn't matter. Only a nutbag as you stated would believe otherwise.

Yep that was pretty much my question. How many of those will he have and still be the starter.

Yea I was curious about this quote as well. Does anyone really think Mett could be worse than JJ was last year? I mean 110th out of 116th he would have to be incredibly bad to be 111th out of 116.

Its interesting reading all these Jefferson threads that apparently many feel Krag won't change things for Jefferson. I know we can only go by what we've seen the last few years but I feel Krag will play a great role in his QB play.

You people are so negative about JJ. When are you going to give it a rest and look at LSU's bright future. One more year and JJ is outta here. Just one more year. ONE!

I hope so!! The more games he start, the more wins we are getting

One thing the Jefferson negatators seem to always forget is that we really didn't have any other options last season. What was Miles going to do? Go to Lee or McCarthy. Neither were viable options. This year if Mett can get up to speed fast enough and Jefferson falters, there may be another option. Jefferson has shown he can play when given the right game plan. Look at the past. His best games were when Crowton had a couple weeks to not come up with a crappy game plan and not call such predictable plays that you could see coming from a mile away. I think Miles may of started having more to do with the game planing later in the season when Jefferson really started to look a lot better. Either way we look more solid and have more good depth at the QB position going into the season than we have had in a long time. If we open up the offense a little, become less predictable without all the stupid inconsistant personel packages we will have a much more productive offense with whoever starts at QB.

08 defense sucked, Miles did what was necessary now we are only going up in ratings.
09 run game sucked, Miles for the right guys in on the OL and LSU ran for 1000 yards more.
10 passing sucked along with offensive gameplan. Miles gets Krags and we'll see what will unfold.
