as a freshman, he was listed as 6'2 290 on lsusports.net and now hes listed as 6'2 278?
Which tells me he can't play well at a larger weight. If he could play at 290-300 he would of been there and played at that last year.

LSU - Center U!
The center position is as much about size as it is football smarts, as he is the QB for the blocking assignments and audibles. at 295, he'll probably start in the next couple of years, as he's often referred to as the smartest football player on the team.

As much as I would love for him to be drafted I don't see it happening. His size hurts him and didn'y play extremely physical this year.
+1
He had some problems with being severely overmatched last season against Auburn, Ole Miss, and Florida. I don't seem him playing pro ball.

I think he'll be a late round pick, undrafted FA at worst. LSU has a pretty good set of Centers in the NFL; Mawae, McClure, Niswanger (all Starters), and Wilkerson. McClure is 6'1" 300#, and Mawae is 6'4" 289#. If Helms gets around 290#, he should be able to make it in the league for a few seasons.

You can't just compare a guy's height and weight to past LSU centers to get an answer.
