I've been accused of being a pessimist, but the reaction to Steele puts that to bed.

It is going to be ok. LSU will be solid next year.

When Steele served as Alabama's director of player development in 2013, he hauled in the number one recruiting class - a good recruiter is a positive for LSU.

He's got two years experience under Nick Saban.

Alabama had a great linebacking corps this year.

It is a solid hire.

Kevin Steele is worse than Mike Stoops

Saban demoted him after the 2007 season

Then Saban rehired him at Alabama. I love how so many negatigers fawn over Nick Saban - and now we hire the same person Saban rehired and it is the worst hire of all time.

Everyone really needs to calm their asses down over this.

What was his record as a DC at every stop? Baylor? Clemson?

Why demote him at Bama?

you're giving the director of player personnel credit for bringing in the #1 class?

well I like the way he recruits LB's. Big tough guys and not the little shrimp Chavis prefers. That in itself was worth the change. I say it's an upgrade over Chavis.

Are you suggesting that Saban hired the wrong man?

1. He didn't hire him as DC, he rehired him to an admin position after he was fired by another school. May have been throwing an old acquaintance a bone.
2. LSU doesn't have a Saban on staff, therefore, the DC position really has to be a DC.
3. Our offense is not a consistent strength of the program, therefore, the DC position at LSU is extremely important.
4. While none of us knows exactly how this will turn out, I don't think any rational reaction to this hire can be expressed without disappointment, at very least.

I believe you're supposed to look at someones resume when you hire them. His resume as a defensive coordinator is terrible. Maybe Les is going to call defense now.

why do people think we need more help with recruiting?

we finish in the top 5-10 every year

because the SEC is not the same it was a few years ago. LSU Bama Florida and maybe one or two more teams dominated the landscape in recruiting. But with the emergence of Ole Miss Mississippi State, Texas A&M, and Auburn. We need to keep up recruiting.

Let's give Steele a chance.

who cares about 2013

National recruiter of the year in 2005 with FSU. He can recruit, the question is his scheme. Apparently it sucked at Clemson his last year. He may suck, he may be good. Let's not write him off.

This is the reason the program is in decline. The PUMPERS would have been happy with Miles if he had hired LOU TEPPER. BUT I believe he hired the best man that would take the job,,I MEAN CHAVIS one of the top DC's in the Nation walks away from 1.3 Mill a load of Talent coming Back the #1 Defense in the SEC and ANYONE WOULD WONDER WHY HE LEFT AND I KNOW I WOULD WONDER! WHAT IS SO BAD THAT ANYONE WOULD LEAVE A GREAT SITUATION. RED FLAGS COME UP/WORKING WITH MILES WON'T BE EASY get a 3 point lead in the 1st quarter and the defense is responsible to protect tHAT LEAD AND IF HE DON'T IT'S HIS FAULT NOT MILES PLAYING NOT TO LOSE
