so Gainesville will be supplying the coastal cities with their law enforcement, first responders and other assets to assist?

I would think the coastal cities, state troopers, and national guard should have that covered.

Ok man. You have it all figured out.

If I were you, I'd email the SEC office and UF officials with your plan. I'm sure they haven't taken ANY of this stuff into consideration.

You're right, Steve. NOPD was PLENTY enough after Katrina, oh, and J.P.S.O. out here in Metairie and on the West Bank. Orleans Parish Levee board filled the gap- in the levees, where they were breached, no outside help came.

Entergy New Orleans handled ALL the power issues, too. Not a single lineman came from anywhere else to help connect power lines and homes back onto the grid.

It just amusing to me bc I would bet if the tables were turned, the vast # of LSU fans would want LSU to do what UF is doing.

Fortunately we have actual evidence to look at.

In 2005 alone, we postponed one game, we moved another to Ariz St, and moved another game to a Monday night.

It's not as complicated as some of you are making this.

Think of it this way - would you rather move the game and it turns out you didn't really need to, or NOT move the game and have even ONE issue arise due to that decision?

The Gville Police, Alachua County Sheriff's, Florida State Patrol, EMS and other resources definitely won't be needed elsewhere in the State by Sunday. #GeezSomePeopleDumb

NO would not have had nearly the damage if the levee system doesn't fail.

Gustav and Isaac were TS when they hit BR, which is further inland than Gainesville and there's no way a football game could've been held w/in at least 7 days.

No. I'm this bloody ignorant.

The point being, it's not the weather DURING the event that's the main issue. It's that manpower will be needed in other areas of the state of Florida AFTER the event, and that manpower will be needed for days, perhaps weeks. Meaning, that the law-enforcement officers, EMS, firefighters, and other ancillary folks will be needed, badly, and unavailable to man a football game.
