re: Why is Les apprehensive to hire a real OC?

The Gerry Dinardo syndrome "why would I want to hire someone who would come in and tell me how wrong I had been"
Unfortunately, we are closer to this fork in the road, then we should be. Dinardo was good when he had good coordinators. Dimardo blamed the DC for a Florida game loss and fired him at the end of the season. Dinardo became convinced he knew better, became arrogant when questioned, and ultimately was fired. Miles is at that crossroad now, Will Miles make the tuff decision and make the needed OC change or will he continue to be arrogant and always be second or worse in the SEC west.

Les had to be forced to fire Crowton who is now coaching in high school. Think about that

I thought Bama would drop off, at least a little, offensively after Jim Mclwayne (sp?) left but you'd never know the guy left. They went out and got some guy from Washington and still looks like the exact same offense. I don't understand why we can't get a real OC.

Not at all. Gerry DiNardo was jealous Carl Reese was getting all of the credit for the stunning upset of No. 1 Florida in 1997 that he pretty much ran him off to Texas and replaced him with Lou Tepper. End of story and end of Gerry DiNardo.
Oh, and to answer the OP's question, Les is a moron.

A new OC won't fix anything because Miles will never let him do his job. I hate to say it but it's time to pay Miles what ever it takes to go away and Sabin what ever he wants to come back.

Really easy answer. Les doesn't see any problem with the offense. This offense has been exactly the same since the 08. If Les wanted the offense to change it would have changed a while back.

It's been 2 years for him to figure out how to fix the offense , it will take him another two
He will never change.

What dysfunction explains this?
Because he doesn't want to relinquish control. If he is forced to hire one, he will HAVE to give up control because he will be under a microscope. The LSU money men are pissed I can tell you that.

"LSU money men are pissed...."
Elaborate please.

Well Les is great family man, and he doesn't yell at his players. That's all we want.

I would have thought this was plain for anyone to see. Good post.
miles did not fiddle in prior years like he started doing in 2010. if you know anything about what crowton ran you can see it. plain as day. ex-players have confirmed this.

Explain the Miles attempt to hire Krags before '10 and hire before '11. If Miles wanted to interject his system (the system he ran as an OC at OSU) Krags system ideals are not in line with that at all. Crowton was actually closer, and even then not all that close.
I would not be surprised if Miles did involve himself in '10. He was shopping to replace Crowton before that year, and '08 and '09 were terrible. Even a defensive minded head coach would involve himself at that point.
The significant point is that Miles didn't go shopping for an OC that mirrored himself, he went after Krags.
