It's an SEC rule because the medical staff needs to be able to see their eyes in the case of a head injury/KO.

Must have written proof that it is needed for play (eye doctors prescription), most schools just get their dr. to write one for each player. LSU doesn't.

Helmet visors are not perscription optics. They are used to prevent fingers from poking the eyes and the dark ones are mainly used to block the defense from reading eyes and the sun.

The tinted ones just look cool. That's what these kids want to wear and I don't blame them.

I believe this it is a Les Miles rule why no one on the team wears clear visors. I think every other team in the country is allowed to wear them but LSU. I have looked around at other games and cannot find another team that does not wear them. So Les Miles rule. /thread

Don't know why LSU players don't wear the eye shields but the NCAA does have a rule about what can be worn. It is Rule 1, Section 4, Article 6; Optional Equipment - part c. which reads:
"c. Eye shields. Eye shields must be clear, not tinted, and made from molded or
rigid material. No medical exceptions are allowed."
