Why Does Kevin Toliver DESERVE to Start?

I keep seeing everywhere that Donte Jackson needs to either be benched or go into Nickel. I do think he would be a good Nickel, but I love Vincent and want both of them on the field. Also, in this scenario, obviously Greedy is starting.

So here is my question: Why do some of you people want Kevin Toliver to start? Now remember, he's a Junior. So his Freshman year he played in 12 games...had a total of 5 pass breakups and 1 int. in 2016, he was 'injured' or suspended or benched...who really knows what, but he literally did NOTHING the entire season. Then to start 2017, he's suspended for the 1st game of the season. He played in roughly half the series against Chattanooga and recorded 1 assisted tackle.

So again, why does Donte Jackson, who was top 10 in the SEC in pass breakups in 2016 and has never gotten in trouble once...get passed up by a Junior who has greatly underperformed in his time in college? Why does Kevin Toliver DESERVE to start?

FYI- this is somewhat rhetorical because none of you have any say so, and Dave Aranda is the best DC in college football and it doesn't look like he's going to be starting KT2 after Greedy's performance.

Fans think players should start in order of their high school recruiting rankings. That's the only reason why. Greedy was compared to Matthieu by some coach a few months ago and so far is living up to it with 3 INTs already. We have a lot of talent there. Each guy will play.

I think the reason is Toliver is a better corner. Just needed to learn how to turn his head.

Donte is a great athlete and deserves to play, but Toliver was better.

That gap is closing really quickly though and like the announcers were saying toliver may have given up his spot to greedy.

So you think he's a better corner while admitting that he played with poor technique?

Did it ever occur to you that maybe one reason he isn't starting is because if that poor technique?

And in his 3rd year in the program he still hasn't fixed it.

Yes.

He's not starting because he got in trouble and got suspended. Also, the emergence of Greedy has pretty much kept him on the bench. He is in the doghouse now.

Then the coaches arent doing their job of making him understand. If that's his only issue then leave him on the field, he just wont have any interceptions, just break ups.

LOL....It's Aranda's and the DB coaches fault.

Christ you people. Maybe KT just doesn't get it.

Maybe the coaches, god forbid, don't think he's good enough relative to the other CBS to start.

What is not disputable, no matter how much you don't like it, is that after 2 years and 2 games DJ has been more productive than KT.

And yes DJ will occasionally get beat....just like literally EVERY OTHER CB THAT HAS EVER PLAYED.

That doesn't mean he should be benched in favor of a guy who has done NOTHING, since arriving.

BTW if he was as good as you claim, he would not be in the doghouse as much as he is.

Talent and superior play keep you out of the doghouse not in it.

Nice post. Most of these geniuses in here think Toliver is LSU's #1 corner. The ignorance in the rant is high.

Jackson was game planned on by some of the best OC's in the SEC all year last year because of White. Gave up the one play against Florida when he was in perfect position but a perfect pass always wins. Alabama, A&M, and Louisville with a plethora of weapons couldnt hardly complete a pass on him. Bama had 2 weeks to prepare and Petrino a month.

Got to give some props to Williams, he looks terrific and has served notice that he deserves to play.

Maybe he doesn't. Keep pickibg and choosing what Im saying though. Its not like I said he deserved to start. I said he is getting passed by, so dont think I'm hating on Fonts.

You asked a question and arent liking the answers. Just like my 2 year old.

How are you measuring this? Or is it just your opinion?

Keep going full retard.

I'd say getting suspended and being disciplined keeps you in the doghouse and doing the right things and staying out of trouble gets you out.

What you are saying I'd that all of the starters can go out and do whatever they want with no repercussions just because they play well.

Thats just dumb.

This literally made me LOL

The reality is that I like Toliver...I like all of our corners. We are dumb with athletes. It's 1A and 1B and 2A and 2B essentially at all DB positions. So something like being suspended to start a season or benched for not practicing hard will lose you reps. Should not earn you favor over others.

Full retarded???

So says the person questioning Aranda and Raymond's decision on who the starting CBs should be.

Again, other than the fact that you think he's better, what has KT ever shown to deserve starting in front of DJ.

The answe is nothing. He was never going to start over DJ.

The 2 starting CBs were supposed to be KT and DJ. KT fricked up and got got suspended.

Now he's been Wally Piped by greedy. Tough shite. Doesn't mean DJ should lose his job.

How many completions were on Kevin Tolliver?

None. Because he is a damn good cover corner and the receivers are not open.

Nothing from the last game indicates that he has poor technique in any way. Their are times where Jackson's receiver is wide open with man coverage.

Regardless of what is going on... damn does it feel good to have this sort of "problem".

That's NOT what I said. But you are very naive to think that the best players don't have a longer leash.

He was suspended. His longer leash was obviously reached. He has now been passed up because Greedy and Donte have been playing well. He is still a better corner ans his time will come. I don't really see what is so hard to understand about this.

Just one example of what KT has done that's better than DJ.

Whatever it is, please tell Raymond and Aranda because they seem to be missing it as well.

Would you like to look up career stats? Toliver was downright bad last season.

This shows so much. Some fans hate Donte because he's all over his man but doesn't get his head around, others say his man is wide open all the time! How do they both work? For someone who sucks so badly, it's shocking he's a 3 year starter
