He is way too aggressive on the first move. The last couple of games the opposing coaches have picked up on this and they have capitalized. He has a little ways to go on his skills as a corner. In the GA game AJ Green had gotten wide open twice on PP and the qb missed him wide open. The same thing happened in the Alabama game.

Please don't take this wrong as me saying he isn't a good corner. He has the highest talent ceiling of any player we have but he still needs some coaching up.

Bottom line is this: Hawkins and Jones played alright

Both of these guys have better numbers as cornerbacks than PP.

Its almost like you cant say anything negative about PP. He still has a ways to go in my mind.

IMHO, the entire team never looked comfortable playing in the mud.

Not saying that's an excuse, but SEC teams like LSU are much more at home on fast tracks, either artificial or a dry grass field.

Reminded me of the '04 game against OSU in the Tiger Stadium mud--team just didn't adjust well.

Was real apparent to me watching the Sugar & Cotton bowls; didn't see the Chicken Bowl, but I don't believe UThug has their historically fast team.

"LSU has more speed and athleticism"

Pretty arrogant statement....I'll give you Holliday, but the remainder of the players matched up (Keep buying into the "SEC Speed" mantra that ESPN is feeding everyone.)Moye didn't seem to have too much of a problem pulling a double move on your faster defender for the TD completion.

"Due to conditions, LSU lost its edge with speed."

Had a feeling this would be brought up! If your "team speed" is consistantly faster than that of another opponent, it will manifest itself proportionally on any given playing field/condition. Or was the equalizer, as another poster put it, that PSU had their "Magic Big 10 Mudding Cleats" flown in from University Park just prior to the start of the game?!

Lastly...the infamous Personal Foul penalty!
Here's what really happened....Being that this "slow plodding Big 10 team" had not witnessed or played against the amazing speed and greater athleticism of an SEC team in a few years, and after fruitlessly and tiressly chasing it's opponent up and down the soggy field all day, it was time to take a nap. PSU's defender wearily tripped and landed on top of Lafell and quickly fell into a deep slumber. An LSU player was concerned after seeing that the PSU defender was face down in the mud and water and quickly flipped his foe on to his back (with SEC speed) to avoid drowning. He needs to be, somehow, rewarded, dont'cha think?

or maybe....just maybe...the better team won!

Once again, the field.

Disagree PSU DBs were rolled up into bump & run all day. Did LSU WRs juke any of them out of their jocks? Nope.

We were more of a threat to throw on them than they were to throw on us.

PP had a bad game but it wasn't the field's fault.

I think it was simply tha Penn State's Off. Coordinator went back and looked at film.

ALL season PP has bitten on double moves and the Bowl Game wasn't any different.

This goes back to our shitty OC. After he saw PP get beat for the TD on the stop an go, why didn't he say, "that's a good idea...I'll try that at some point today."

1. Jones doesn't play CB

2. I'd like to see these "numbers."

3. If the numbers are so much better in favor of Hawkins, realize that teams were throwing away from Peterson in the middle of the season. There were several games when he didn't have his name called, and that's just evidence that he's doing his job.

Mel Kiper had him as a top 10 pick if he was eligible this year. He may have a ways to go to reach his ceiling, but he's already one of, if not the best CBs in the country as a sophomore.

Peterson was afraid of falling into all the bomb craters on the field and breaking a leg.

No shite. But on stats, he is rated as such.

Check ESPN.com and you will see that both CJ and CH are higher rated by the numbers.

PP is rated number 289 in the country by the numbers. Check it dumbass.

Well guess what, he isnt eligible so what does that statement mean? Jack shite.

Also who gives a shite about where he will be drafted? Every player has weaknesses and PP is no exception.

It certainly looked like PSU made a decision to specifically go after Peterson from the outset. If the conditions were the only issue, then I don't see why the Lions wouldn't have just gone after the other CB position like other teams usually do. But they didn't. They specifically isolated Peterson as the weak link on the LSU defense. It's a little worrisome.

In his interview he said, "Footing is everything for my position" and then he said something to the effect that "it's hard enough to play the position because the receiver knows where he's going, and on a field like that, it's even tougher." Not exact quote, but it was something similar to that.

But that being said, he's still young and he will make mistakes. They all do. Obviously.

You can't compare the numbers of 2 players who play different positions.

quote:

PP is rated number 289 in the country by the numbers.

So, by this stat, PP shouldn't be starting for a Division 1-A college FB team. There are 240 CBs starting for the 120 Div 1-A teams (FBS). These stats you are quoting are absolutely worthless, and if you can't see that, you're the dumbass.

quote:

Well guess what, he isnt eligible so what does that statement mean? Jack shite.

No, it means that Peterson is one of the best CBs in college FB according to those who rate players for a living.

quote:

Every player has weaknesses and PP is no exception.

Very true, but you're claiming he isn't better than Hawkins or Jones because ESPN.com says he isn't based on stats, while you fail to realize these stats don't give you the whole picture because teams tend not to throw towards Peterson because of his talent.
