For years we have been horrible running screens. While other teams run them with great success against us. Other defenses seem to know it's a screen when we try them. Maybe some of you can explain why we aren't a good screen team.

We do not run them at practice. They draw them up in the dirt during the game.

Short answer: coaching.

Running screen plays takes alot of discipline and you have to have guys on the line that can pull well and are willing to get up field and make some really physical blocks. Just seems like our coaching has kept us down on that too.

Cameron was knows for calling a ton of screens when he was at Balt. I don't understand it either.

Chalk another one up to coaching I guess.

We've rarely tried to run screens, at least HB screens

I thought he ran screens at Baltimore. Just seems like it would be a play we would want to be good at. Getting our playmakers beyond the dline with a few blockers leading the way...in space! I just don't get it. And Guice looks like he would be the perfect back for it...like a Sproiles. Also the circle rout to Guice on a linebacker.

I guess y'all have all been right...coaching has to be the issue. Our staff seems against "tricking" defenses.

They threw one to Fournette that was really nice.

Because most of time Harris can't make that throw. He doesn't know how to take steam off the ball.

What's sad is you have one of the best NFL offenses at running screens about an hour south of Baton Rouge and you don't ask for a little help. Even saban reached out to a saints team for help before the '11 championship and it did wonders for them against the option. I guess our coaching staff doesn't need any help. Maybe they'll just look at the film and "fix it" like all the other issues they've been so successful at fixing.

because our qb has a baseball wind up for throwing a football. It kinda gives away the quick passes.

^^^ mostly this. Luv Harris, but it's like he doesn't know his own strength. Even his deep ball is a Nolan Ryan fastball

Wait what? Saban went to the Saints in 11 to defend the option. Why because the Saints faced so many options teams during the season?

I will vote for a combination of all three...coaching, Harris's inability to put touch on the ball, and a poor job of our O-line "selling" the screen. The one Saturday night where Harris hit the D-lineman in the back with the ball was destined to be a bad play as the D-Lineman picked up the obvious screen play quickly. There is plenty for the staff to work on here before the screen will be effective.
