re: Why are so many of you so adamantly opposed to A&M on Thanksgiving?

quote:I wonder if LSU fought to keep the Arkansas game where it was? That's been one of the country's best rivalries in the past 20 years, but LSU fans never seemed to notice. LSU fans don't care about their traditions as much as they care about their image.
It's bs that the sec caved for a&m when our administration was supposedly adamant about no thanksgiving. We have made the conference millions for the past decade and have gotten shite out at every turn.

TAMU and Texas routinely sold out their stadiums on Thanksgiving. I guess our fans are not as die hard. Must be a TX thing.

Second, because I fear the slippery slope of this game eventually being on Thanksgiving for BOTH games..
I hope it is. That way we can assure the game will be a night game.
Having it on Friday will mean TAMU will NEVER experience a night game in Death Valley.

2 hour drive for a traditional game played every thanksgiving for them is a hell of a lot different

quote:Everything. It was a tradition, and they threw it out. Playing Arkansas Thanksgiving weekend was the next tradition, and no LSU fans seem to be clamoring for it to stay. There is no end-of-season tradition that means anything to LSU and its fans.
What the frick does LSU ending a terrible one sided series that saw Tulane win about four games in the last fifty years have to do with not wanting to see LSU schedule a football game on what is already one of the most busy days of the year for most people?
That is, until someone else's tradition is recognized. Then all of a sudden LSU is a victim. This is embarrassing.
Tulane? Most traditional game in school history, fans don't care.
Florida? Played 60 of 62 seasons, and fans are loathe to call it a rivalry.
Arkansas? Best SEC west rivalry since expansion, and nobody cares.
But the minute somebody else gets something that's important to them, all of a sudden LSU fans claim they're getting screwed. It's pathetic. Get the hell over it. Nobody shits on LSU's traditions more than LSU.

Isn't it only 2-3 hrs for most LSU fans too?

If they recognize our tradition of saturday night home games then we cant bitch. But we both know we will play friday afternoon most likely

Seriously?
I would say most LSU alums and fans live in BR, NOLA, St. Tammany, Lafayette, Monroe, and Alexandria.
I would say that's probably a lot less than 2-3 hours and right around 1.5-2 hours for most. Only fans who have a long way would be Shreveport.
Texas is a lot bigger than LA is and some of their fans make the trek from Houston to Austin and even Dallas to Austin. Hell, some live in west texas which is way the frick out there. If they can fill it, then we should....unless our fans are a bunch of whiny bitches like I suspect.

are you talking about the road game?
Jesus Christ!
Most of the Thanksgiving games are filled by the home team, not the away team.

then keep it on Thanksgiving so it will at least be at night.

WTF are you talking about? I said its a 2 hour drive from college station to austin. Making it an extremely easy game to make for either fan base on thanks giving. Not even close to the same for LSU fans traveling to A&M

I'm confused. Are you an LSU fan? I'm trying to figure out what your approach is here.

quote:Stop pretending that LSU never plays home games at night. There's plenty of night games at Tiger Stadium. And quit bitching that the most-watched network pays a bunch of money to put our team on national tv at 2pm occasionally.

Other teams make demands but we cant? Got it
