Lacy is hurt. Turf toe, nonetheless. You can take him out of this equation.
So you've got TR and Fowler averaging more than LSU's top 3 (not by much, I might add) which now outnumber your guys by 1. LSU also has Hilliard and McGhee and Shepard on deck, by the way. All as good or better than Fowler.
Depth, in a word. Bama does not have it. They've got the flashy names, but no one behind them.

Bama's backups have the same number of rushing yards as LSU's. How many guys do you think are going to get hurt in this game?

Lacy was limping Wednesday. Let him make some cuts against the fastest, most aggressive D in the country. See how effective he is, for how long.
I don't want ANYONE to get hurt. Just saying LSU is deeper, and if you think a 125 ypg running back is the decisive reason you're going to beat this team (as so many are citing), then you're kidding yourself. Trent Richardson won't be worth the hype tomorrow, he won't be the game changer. Bama's D will be the deciding factor long before TR is. But what I find interesting is that time after time these so-called experts citing TR as the reason they picked Bama. What is not getting press, because it's simply boring, is LSU's huge edge in depth. That's all I'm saying, bud.
LSU's depth will prevail.

Do you really think the fact that you have 5 RB's and Bama has 3 (if you don't count Blake Sims and Brent Calloway) is going to make a difference?
Where else do you think you have more depth? D-line? Do you know the difference in a 3-4 and a 4-3 defense? You realize you would inherently have less linemen in a 3-4, right?
QB? I'm happy with doing what 90% of teams do every year, which is have a starter and a capable backup. I don't see how having two "starters" at QB is going to help you unless the NCAA is going to let you play with 12 men on the field OR if someone gets hurt.
Where else is all this depth that Bama doesn't have?
I think both teams are very deep. Both have recruited exceedingly well the past several years.

I kind of like it that way. I think this is each team's shot, and the winner should go out and destroy another foe for the NC. I think the two best teams should play at the end of the year, UNLESS they've already played.
I guess I'm an old fashioned purist.

TR is a great back, but we have faced a number of great backs this year and not one of them has run all over us. If TR gets 100 yds and 2 TD's with a victory then you should give him the Heisman. He will deserve it.

I'm sorry, but who the hell are Blake Sims and Brent Calloway? Yes, I think our 6 PROVEN running backs will make a difference. Call me crazy.
This thread is about Trent Richardson facilitating a 4:1 ration of experts picking Bama. I'm arguing that they are drinking the Heisman koolaid. That's all. Those that are picking LSU pick them for a bevy of reasons. Trent Richardson is the Lord and Savior of this game according to all these experts.
That's a lot of pressure on a kid. Too much, I say.

He is a good back...and he will get drafted and play on Sunday, but the question is a fair one. This year he has absurd stats against Ole Miss and North Texas, the 103 @ 109 teams against the rush
28 carries for 350yds. 12.5 yard average 7 TD's
And good, but not really Heisman numbers against everyone else.
121 carries for 639yds..5.2 yard average 10 TD's

Explain to me how that will help LSU vs. say, only having 3 proven RB's?
Will the 3 get hurt? Or, will they just get tired because they've never played football before, or what? I don't understand.

Thank you, chipd. Thank you! The ever-loving point of the post was this.
Richardson doesn't quite hit the hole, he's patient, but I think LSU's speed here hurts that style the same way it hurt Lamichael James.
That crap works against slower, less talented defenses. If TR doesn't blow through the A gaps, if he waits for his blocks to set up, he's gonna go nowhere for the very large part of the game.

That said, on any play that Bama's OL lends him a step or two on our LB's, should he THEN make his move, we may be in trouble. He's gonna have to change his style up from what's given him success to this point in order to be effective in this game. If he brings standard TR 2011, he may break one or two, but he's going to have a long night for the most part.
