Whatcha think

I don't see it. I have friend who believes he will eventually leave Bama for something else, but I don't see it. I don't think he liked the pro game as much as he thought he would. I read once where he said that his wife likes the college atmosphere. When the pro game ends, people go back home. In college everybody (exclude grad seniors and pro prospects) hangs around. You have contact with them, plus they are "hungry." They know you are a cog in thier quest get to the pros or a championship.

I have to feel that coaching unpaid 19 year old sophomores (exclude USC here) is different from coaching 23 year old millionaires who make more money than you by a factor of ten. I don't see him leaving Bama because he is essentially a godlike figure (translate this to the second coming of Bear Bryant, not Christ) at least for now. I really believe that if LSU had been open when he left the pros, he would have jumped on it. He knew he had a good thing here. He has it as good or better at Alabama.

What I fear is that we could be headed to a new age time warp of a Charlie Mac/Bear Bryant era. If there is a god in heaven who wears a purple jersey on game day, this will not happen.

Nick's not coming back. I agree that he at one point probably wished he never left us, but the man has a good thing going at Bama. That would just be too over the top.

I'll never forget what he did here, and neither should anyone else. And I believe the man when he said he made some lifelong friends here- all "coonass" jokes aside.

Bringing it on ourselves.

THE God in heaven doesn't care about football, it's in the Bible.

The football gods, however, may punish us for another twenty years (or more for being a repeat offender) if we run off Miles for winning but just not being better than the best coach (according to conventional wisdom) alive at that time, like we did Mac....

Just saying.

Right

My problem(and this will be all I say) is that it appears we're on a track of being pretty good but behind Alabama and Florida...and that isn't acceptable

First, I don't agree with the premise that we will be behind them consistently just because we finished behind them the last two years.

HOWEVER, Florida and Alabama met as the two top teams in the nation (or really close to it) for the last two years with the winner of the game winning the National Title.

ARE you saying that it is unacceptable for LSU to finish anywhere but ahead of those two teams?

Essentially the ONLY acceptable outcome to an LSU season is National Title, correct?

WHAT A BUNCH OF SPOILED ENTITLED WORTHLESS FANS LSU HAS BEEN SADDLED WITH.

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOODNESS GET OFF THE BANDWAGON NOW, WE JUST DON'T HAVE ROOM!

Wow, overreact and jump to conclusions much?

No, but it isn't acceptable to consistently finish behind them...why do you want lower expectations? Sounds like a losers mentality to me

What is the time frame for consistency? 2 years? Miles has pretty much gone back and forth with Meyer, and will likely continue to do so. Same with Saban. You're only using a two year sample. Ebb and flow.

2 years is not consistently. Talk about your short term memory.

And I know he's also lost to Nutt, but go check Sabes record against Nutt. Nutt scares the shite outta me.

Valid point, but there is a strong possibility we finish with a worse SEC record than both of them this year

Is 3 years a large enough sample?

3 years is certainly a trend. Losing close games to Bama is the least of my concerns. I have the capacity to see us being blown out in a few games in '08, then seeing us be in every game last season, and notice improvement.
-
I am that guy that realizes the Perrilloux situation killed us, and am hoping it corrects itself this season. However, if we lose close games to Bama and UF, no, that won't do it for me. Now, if we look like shite against MSU or lose to OM, maybe.
