If JJ starts we might not have much chance for any back up time.

Shepard. He could be the next Pat White

Except that he decided to go to an SEC school, not Big East. Even Pat White couldn't have been Pat White in the SEC.

peyton might have the ugliest release that i have ever seen.

but, that's my opinion.

statistics are one thing, but it aint pretty.

i think peyton's release is tight

probably because he's the shite... look at rivers and romo. there's some nasty shite going on in those releases. doesn't matter what it looks like, as long as you're smart enough to know where to put the ball and get rid of it quickly.

jj's release is too deliberate for me.

agree.

my personal favorite releases:

troy aikman
jeff george
warren moon

my worst releases:

aaron brooks
randall cunningham
dan marino (i compare his to peyton's)

this arguement is not about stats at all. i just love the way that garrett throws the ball.

JJ, in his first year as a starter, posted this line:

182/296 for 2166 yards, 17 TD/7 INT. 61.5% completion and 7.3 YPA.

Ummmm.... those are pretty good numbers. They are especially good when you consider JJ was a first-year starter and a sophomore. Really, anyone who says JJ had a bad year is completely ignoring the statistical record. With some expected improvement, JJ will be one of the top QB's in the conference. It would be nothing short of insane to bench him.

going on releases i personally really like Lees release, if he couldve been coached up with his throwing off the back foot part it couldve been really pretty.. but the guy is pretty much head fricked but i really would like him to have another chance

throw the ball so beautifully as Garrett.

When have you seen him throw a pass in a college game? He threw like 10 passes in the spring game. That's a dumb fricking argument.

are you retarded?

why would i have to see him throw in a game to determine if he has a nice throwing motion?

not really much of a question...it has to be JJ at this point. I really hope JJ either improves tremendously (which i have serious doubts about), or someone else completely outplays him in spring/fall practice.

those are good numbers... but come on, we finished 112th in the nation. this has been said a million times.

i agree that it is tough for a qb to come in as a 1st/2nd year player and succeed in the sec, but i don't understand using some of our stats to back up a guy at the helm of a stagnant offense. i'm not trying to bash on him, it's just that using stats seems ill advised when you realize what kind of offense we had this year.

once again this is about the product as a whole and not a blame party for jefferson. he is great at times, but he needs major improvement as well as the coaches.

i don't understand why any position shouldn't be up for grabs.

we had a terrible offense this year anyway you try to slice it. what makes people think it will get better? losing scott/williams/black/dickson/lafell... these are key components of the offense that was bad to begin with

open competition will bring out the best in players IMO.
