and what are you doing on the rant with almost 600 posts, curing fricking cancer? you cant stand people questioning your beloved coach! you are living with battered wife syndrome. you hold on to the "times he is good to you" (ie-mnc of 07) however, you ignore the results of the last 2 yrs., the mediocrity of 8-8 in conference, and the national scrutinization of a coach that at times appears to be caught in the headlights or playing with matches.

I think his actions during his first year and Katrina gives him some props.

I do still love Coach Miles but I also loved my two ex-wives for a long time before that changed, so take that for what it is worth.

People who don't understand losing your starting QB and having to play inexperienced freshman. I am going to stop there because right now it is a mute point. The Tigers should be an improved team this year. The coaching situation should be straitened out now. Mistakes were made. That part has been corrected. Les is a good man. And will have another dam strong football team this year.

I was down in Cabo the last ten days and I bumped into a large number of college football fans from across the country. To a person, they all questioned me at length whether Les Miles was the right man for the job. Some were nicer than others with their questions, but every fan questioned his ability to run the program.

Many were complimentary of LSU's accomplishments over the last decade and still more stated that LSU should be able to contend for SEC and possibly MNCs with the talent Louisiana has to offer. The overall perception from this sample group was that LSU should be a power with which to be feared.

I know many of you here will say who gives a damn, but hearing the derogatory comments from so many people from so many places regarding our coach hit home and made me a bit embarrassed.

I don't love any coach, but i do respect him. He does need to go at least 9-3 this year or he will be sitting on top of a nuclear bomb. All we need is wins, he gives everything else we need.

Then simply explain to them the issues we've had at QB and o-line, tell them LSU is going to be just fine, we've had a couple of relatively down years but that football is cyclical....and if they don't understand any of this and just like to bash our coach tell them to sign on tigerdroppings.com because they'll fit in just fine.

and they could have added, Oh by the way, how many National Championships has your coach won in the last 5 years?

No coach will come to LSU if Miles doesnt get 2-3 years realistically. Pretty awful precedent to set if you fire a guy who won you a national championship less than 5 years ago

It's worse to wait 10 years until the bottom falls out like Tennessee did. Their options were more limited than they would have been years earlier when they still had a lot of talent and momentum. Unfortunately, most schools, including LSU, regard coaching changes as a moral issue, saying a coach doesn't "deserve" to be fired because he accomplished something a while back. It should simply be a practical decision. Are we going to be better off over the next five years with Les Miles than we would be with someone else? The answer to that question is the only one that matters.

I'm a Miles fan. In saying that I belive that he will fail as the LSU coach because in today's environment you have to be an arse to survive and he is not that.

Since the players Nick Saban recruited has left, Les Miles record is 17-9. His first 3 years,
his record is 34-6. The proof is in the pudding. Les Miles is a great guy, but he is not a great coach.
He reminds me of Elmer Fudd. Every other word is uh-uh-uh. If LSU wants to stay a top 10 program,
they have to get rid of him after this season.

If you're not going to come with anything better than the idiotic "Sabans players" argument than just don't bother posting next time.

"then"...and the truth is, no "argument" would change your mind, which is fine; however, others have the right to voice their opinions too. Just keep in mind that you're not likely to change theirs, either.

Personally, I see where Miles does bring a lot of positives to the table; however, overall, I can't get comfortable with someone who's always lost for coherence when a camera is stuck in his face. It leads me to believe he has problems analyzing things in a crunch and that's not a good characteristic to have for a coach at that level.

Thus why I said 2-3 more years, not 10. Also its not like some god of a football coach is sitting on his couch just waiting for someone to call him for a job. Elite coaches, who arent actually coaching, are doing so because they choose not to. Youre preaching to the choir man, I am not a Les Miles #1 supporter by any stretch. All i said was it would look bad to other top level coaches (potential replacements) if he were to be fired soon after winning the trophy. The ones with gigantic egos wouldnt care, but none of those guys are going anywhere. Miles has this year to determine if hes on the notorious "hot seat" then probably 1 more; realistically thats probably how its going to shake out. In all honesty he really does deserve that.

it SHOULD be, but thats not how it works. Relationships and friendships develop and make it harder to just say "get the frick out". It also just has to be timed really well. The people making the decisions have to know what is out there, and who they can realistically hire. I guarantee there are contingency plans somewhere, probably in the same location as the super secret playbook.

Because Saban's players are so incredibly awesome, they coach themselves.

....and the impatience with the youth at the QB position lies with the fans bickering and whining.

Again, like I've always said....if it weren't for Perrilloux being THuG4LYfe, none of these conversations would be taking place.
