This is for the fans claiming Southern Miss, who hosted this regional, is garbage and we should’ve won 20-0.

Who is worthy of beating us respectfully without everyone melting down about it?

Southern Miss is a solid team. Good players all around. We should be able to win this regional.

Kennesaw State with no pitchers left pitched better against them. So did Army.

LSU also went ice cold against a pitcher who barely played at all this year.

Disappointment is justified.

I don't understand the defeatist attitude around here. I truly don't, but it's ridiculous.

Southern Miss is a deserving host. They’ve got a good team and they’ve been a good program over the years. If LSU doesn’t win this regional, the better team will have won. Southern Miss has led most of the two games to the two teams have played against each other so far.

That said, why does a Sun Belt team have this kind of pitching staff and a historically great SEC program have a pitching staff and defense not worthy of wearing LSU uniforms? That’s the fact that upsets some of us, not the fact LSU lost to Southern Miss.

And LSU got shut down tonight by someone way down the pitching staff of a Sun Belt team. No way in the world USM thought that guy would bail out their staff in the second game of the day and fourth of the weekend.

It speaks to the shite pile Mainieri left behind and poor pitching and defensive development in Johnson’s first season. I can accept a bad offensive game but there’s no excuse for the LSU’s pitching and defense when USM, a Sun Belt program, pulls one of their lesser pitchers out of their arse and he throws the game of his life.

Isn’t Jason Kelly supposed to be all that as a pitching coach?

In short. There's a lot of developed talent in youth baseball and roster limitations.

Poor pitching?? Lmao. Johnson managing the bullpen as well as he has is the only reason we’re even in the postseason. We barely have 1 SEC level starter and were in the conversation to host with 17 SEC wins. The fact that a sun belt team, in its 5th game of the weekend, has a better pitching outlook than LSU is squarely and solely on how poorly Mainieri recruited. Our patchwork pen has gotten us this far and it bites us in the arse occasionally. When you don’t have guys who can eat innings and constantly have to rely on your pen to be 100% nails things like this happen.

I don’t think USM is that great. They’re a decent team. I don’t think they’re garbage, their schedule was trash, but I was never worried about them directly.

LSU hasn’t been a great team either. We’ve seen the ups and downs. I still think on our game we’re way better than them.
When we play like we did tonight, yes, you have to worry about a team like USM.

The bullpen has had to be so good because the starting pitching is a shite stain.

And you can cite roster limits but if that’s the case, how come LSU doesn’t have its share of weekend starters worth a shite?

Furthermore, LSU is where its at because its offense is second in the SEC in almost every offensive category. That fabled bullpen had LSU down 11-4, 6-2 and 7-4 in three games this weekend.

Ah yes. Johnson should have recruited better starting pitching for LSU while he was at Arizona

He’s not getting it. I think what Jay inherited, he’s done an amazing job with.
