Regarding the OP's original question... Isn't it that the following all result in an automatic review:

1. Any play resulting in a first down
2. Any play resulting in change of possession
3. Any play resulting in a score

AND... when the coach throws a challenge flag. I have a rule question regarding that. IF a coach initiates the challenge and loses the challenge, he loses a time out. There are no time outs in OT.... How, then, does a coach challenge a call in OT???

And, correct my assumptions as to when a play is up for automatic review.

No way they could have confirmed that fast. Besides, with only 13 seconds left its worth the gamble. Can't take timeouts with you to OT.

Miles shouldn't have had to call a timeout to have that play reviewed.

Agreed but what's he got to lose. That was a bad coaching mistake.

I heard during the broadcast that the Yeldon fumble was a "booth initiated" review! So that play was more important than a completed 3down pass in waiting secs of the game? More BS!
