Who gets the green dot on D now that Whit is out? TJD I suppose?

There was an interview earlier in the season/preseason where they talked about Dottery having it at Ole Miss, but Weeks having it here allows Dottery to play “more freely”.
I’d think that there is a chance Benefield ends up with the green dot to keep that going, but maybe Dottery gets it.

I would like that. Cooley had it at different points last year so that is another option.

Honestly, Keys might get it still. He’s been in Bakers system the longest and should have the best understanding of it. Cooley as well

That is what made me wonder, I couldn't remember if Kiffin said that about Dottery (referring to his playing "freer") or if it was just talk from one of the numerous LSU podcasts I listen to.
I know you want it to be someone that plays virtually all of the snaps, and I know you can only have one green dot on the field at a time, so I was kinda musing to myself wondering about the logistics of the coms helmet(s). I got an LLM AI answer explaining some of the rules and regs on helmet coms, but who knows if its completely accurate in its description. I'd love to catch a "behind the scenes" on how that process works and thoughts behind replacing the green dot player when they go out.

Coaches always know who it goes to “next” the second that it happens. It’s who “talks” to his teammates the most when they are on the field… The one that gets players where they need to be.
It’s a trust level thing. “Coach on the field” is a saying for a reason. Many guys can play their part… Not all of them know EVERYONE’s part and can dictate that plainly while on the field.

TJD wore it at OM. They talked about it before the season. Whit won out on seniority. He’s very capable of taking the on field leadership role.
