"tigerstros, I think there are only two seniors starting on the O-line, big Herm and Helm, and Miller, but I don't think Miller was a starter. I'm worried about defense."

I believe tigerstros point was no matter if it is offense, defense, or special teams, it all starts and stops with Miles......we are in trouble for next year, no doubt

Yes, as I have always felt we were on borrowed time with Miles. When Pelini left and Mallory and Peveto replaced him, I believed we were F'd but hoped for the best. In spite of that belief, and much to the dismay of the "True Fan" police, I continue to travel to an away game a year, have been to two bowl games and SEC Title games this decade, etc...

My passion for LSU or money spent supporting them is no more or less valuable than the legion of fans who feel he is the next coming of Vince Lombardi.

Miles will be fine next year provided LSU wins nine, more or less. A repeat of this past season will be a different matter.

The thing that gets me is that, yes, the team had a lot of personnel issues, yadda yadda. The departure of RP was necessary, but it exposed the lack of depth behind him.

And even if he'd stayed, how much better would the defense have been? They were inexperienced too.

In any case, everyone understands that even the best coaches will have an off year. It shouldn't happen often. I'm sure Miles knows this very well, we'll just have to see what happens.

If Les is a "learner" (and he was offered a crash course this year) then we'll be ok.

I think I'll know the answer when he names a new DC.

You can cherry pick stats to come up with an argument that supports your position, but I did look up Meyer, Saban, Zook, Fulmer, Richt, Stoops, Carroll, Tuberville, Nutt, and Coker's conference records - in the last conference they coached.

Tuberville had two losing conference records at Auburn - his first and his last. Zook was 4-4 his last year at Florida. Fulmer had a great run but sprinkled in 3 below .500 seasons toward the end, and thus the resignation. Saban, Richt, Stoops, Meyer, and Carroll never had a losing in conference record. Coker had one losing in conference record - his last/year 6 at Miami.

Nutt had losing in conference records in year 3, 7, and 8 while at Arkansas.

So based on that quick analysis, I would disagree - the best coaches do not have an off year.

I love Coach Miles. I think he will pull us out of this.

But if he doesn't... I REALLY hope Tubberville is available.

I can't tell you what I think of that because I'm on probation.

0.788 winning Pct over 4 years.

Les's average year: 10.25 - 2.75
Les's median year: 11 - 2
les's mode year 11 - 2
best 12 - 2
worst 7 - 5

Who believes

Well, I believe in the soul, the cock, the pussy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.

Don't be so lazy. Pull out some stats that highlight where the top coaches in college football had conference records below five hundred.

When I did the research, I was surprised that Fulmer had more than two and surprised that Nutt had more than two. The other guys - Richt, Carroll, Stoops, Meyer, Saban - had none.

FWIW:
...here is something I was told by an ex apt mate from OK St....when Miles was hired.

"you guys will love him for the first 3 years, by the 5th year, you will hate his guts"

...would never explain why.
all he would say is "You'll see"

Miles only coached 4 years at Okie State, and finished as thier 3rd Winningest coach (who coached more than 1 season) in Okie State Football History. Better than Jimmy Johnson, who is the best known previous Okie State Coach.

Miles is just finishing year 8 as a head coach. The stuff you posted about the Okie State fan is pointless dribble.

that is correct and it was increased from $10MM. The buyout is if he is fired without reasonable cause, which means lawyers will debate what constitutes reasonable cause and Miles and LSU will reach a settlement for less

Genghis Chaka Khan

Anyone else find it odd that Genghis Chaka Khan is talking buyout clauses & settlements, while LSU Fans are thinking about the Peach Bowl & about how Shepard, Davenport, Calhoun, Pratt, Jackson, Faulk, Ford etc. will do in the SEC next year?

I was told something similar by the 2 Okie State guys who work in my office. They have maintained from day 1 of Miles' hire at LSU (even after LSU won the BCSNC last year) that he would not last more than 5 years in Baton Rouge. One of the guys is a personal friend of Mike Gundy's, so that may influence his perspective somewhat. Both said that the overall lack of discipline that LSU exhibited this year on both sides of the ball is a hallmark of a Miles-coached team. Apparently they had the same problem at OSU during his tenure there.

What an uplifting poster...what a great assist such posts provide to our recruiting...what a crock! One mediocre/bad year and we throw the preceding success out of the window...geez, I bet you're a ton of laughs for your family and friends...news: we've got a great recruiting class coming in; we have talent at the QB with JJ and Shepherd; and if folks like you don't scare him off, RR and Markevious will join the crew who'll make it another nat'l championship in coming years...so lighten up, take a valium or drink too many lite beers...Les will be here coaching our Tigers with more success and you'll have to find something else to bitch about...my guess, that's an easy task for you.
