Lee should have finished it, but I really don't fault them putting JJ in after he had a decent rushing day. Might as well make them fear multiple running plays/players/formations.

Any coach or anybody that was watching the game wouldn't have been feared by JJ coming in. He threw for 30 yards and 2 int. It was blatantly obvious that JJ was going to run the ball in that situation, so they knew exactly what was coming at them, making it easier to stop us. Swapping out packages to run that play also took more time off the clock. Jefferson never should have came in.

I never meant throwing the ball. It was painfully obvious we weren't going to throw the ball after the play action didn't work. JL is no running threat what so ever, whereas JJ is somewhat decent on it. They had been burned on the first play overreacting to our read option, and they had to have been yelling at eachother to watch for it. I'm not saying thats what made the difference for Ridley to get into the end zone, you might as well make them think of multiple things.

I initially agreed with the running threat of JJ in short yardage but, the he put on after that play didn't work, had me second guessing the call.

my god, you really wanted JJ back in the game...unbelieveable...

JL took you down the field...let him finish it...give him a signature win...and something the players can rally behind him with..

Shep should be the ONLY running qb we have...JJ should sit or move to TE.

Ive said it for two years!

Lee took you down the field...why not just leave him in? you have no timeouts, so passing to the endzone is the safer option.
This.

Lee should have been in there.

You can run more passing plays than running plays if there are no timeouts, and it was clear that Jefferson was throwing the ball better against Tennessee.

That's what I was thinking on the intercepted pass in the endzone by lee. We'd been grinding down their throats and then try to get fancy down by the goal line. Ridley is money in the bank and I'd ride him hard and put him up wet in goal line situations. At worse we get points on a field goal.

I also thought JJ went a little deep on his attempt, maybe a reason he got stopped short.
Williford missed the MLB.

This was not the spot for the wildcat or JJ. Our success was giving the ball to Ridley or Lee throwing the ball.

just to poke the hornets nest some more but last time Lee was down there he through a perfect pass... to a linebacker.

Oh so now it's a linemans fault JJ screwed up and didn't pitch the ball while taking a hit. It's that sort of sheltered crap that makes JJ think he's playing well. Someone needs to make the boy take responsibility for screwing up so he can get better.

apparently this was Miles' thinking as well since he called the last play.

I bet he wouldn't do that again. Unlike JJ who would difuse the blame to someone else. JL actually acknowledged the underthrown ball and I'm sure wouldn't have underthrown a reciever again in that game. This isn't the same Lee that bent pooch over two years ago and made it squeal like a pig!

so it's punish JJ for his mistakes but forgive JL for his.

you honestly think that just because JJ tries to stay positive and give his best PC answer when asked he doesn't know he screws up? do you think he doesn't try and correct mistakes?

Bad play call. He was probably told to toss it up no matter what if there wasn't double covered.

I didn't understand the QB switch then and never will. That was easily the dumbest call in Miles' history.

and JJ was probably told to stay in and run two plays in a row and not spike it.

but he still gets blamed.

and yes it was a horrible play called. i love Ridley. but really? a fade to the corner?

well it's actually easy to understands what crowton wanted in that situation. he wanted the mobile quarterback.

it's more the substitutions that is hard to understand.

Per Coach Stud, the call was to run the ball and then send in new personnel with two plays.

If this is true, then I'm mortified. Why not send JJ in with 2 plays??

I'm ok with JJ being in there at that time ( i wouldnt have but whatever) but if the above is true they set him up to fail big time.

Lee should have been in the game. Like has been posted, throw 4 straight passes, high enough for only our 6'4" receivers to catch. Don't throw it to Ridley (5'11") again!!

Maybe since Lee threw a pick in the redzone the last time down, they were worried he would do it again. However, someone who CALLED THAT PLAY decided to have our 5'11" tailback try to catch a pass when there are more effective receivers on our roster.

At the end of the day, it's 1st and goal with 30ish seconds left. That's enough time for 3 plunges into the endzone with a running back that had averaged over 6 yards a carry to that point.

Miles deserves a fire-storm for the ending of that game, but what the hell with the offensive coordinator subbing in a spread package when Ridley is running the way he had been? I would think most can agree that it was Miles that called the final play... so why couldn't Crowton do that? I was screaming for that play the entire time....

If only we had someone on the team that would be electric in a goalline option, dual-threat situation. I heard from a friend that Shepherd was awesome in high school at that sort of thing but knew he was lying because the coaches wouldve put him in if he really had proven running abilities.
