I have always been an LSU fan. I would love to be a Ragin Cajun fan just as I pull for Nichols, Northwestern, SLU, Southern, etc. as a group of state schools that are not top tier D-1 teams. But I can't -just can't because of the arrogant attitude of so many ULL fans.
For example, Nathan Pike's column states:
"But instead of giving Louisiana the credit it deserves. . ."
Louisiana? The state? Oh yea, a team. Lafayette or Monroe, or Louisiana College?
Come on ULL fans. You have a really good baseball team. Most of your team even acted with a measure of class when the ending of rain shortened game was announced. As opposed to many of the fans who celebrated wildly over the partial win. You would have thought they had won a regional and were on their way to CWS. Which they might do again this year.
But come on fans! Football & softball has had successes. Every so often you should beat LSU in some sports, just as Tulane should occassionally. But please, quit trying to be something you are not- The University of Louisiana. You are ULL! Your own website media section specifies that you are UL-Lafayette. Not UL. Not Louisiana. ULL!
Embrace it. Enjoy it. Lafayette is a fun college city. Be proud but quit trying to be something else. It's embarrassing.

They are still in an IDENTITY CRISIS as to who they are, changing the school name was a Stupid idea, I don't blame them for the confusion the situation sucks.

I said in another thread that I think they host a regional this year. Great experienced line-up that could easily be in Omaha if their pitching stays healthy.

The next time LSU plays the bulldogs/ ragin cajuns/chilli peppers from SLI/USL/ULLLLLL, remember this thread. They are always demanding respect instead of doing it the right way, earning it. No one here detests the weenies more than I do, but I will freely admit that Coach Jones has developed and run his program the right way, on the playing fields going back decades. The same way Coach Maistrie developed UNO into the State's power progam in the 70's. On the field of play. ULLLL wins one game in Feb and we are supposed to proclaim them the new king of baseball in La.
