I just don't understand why we're throwing someone under the bus in favor of someone who is doing less.
Stevenson had made a lot out of a few ABs. He was getting on base, pinch hitting well etc. Meanwhile Gio slumped and lost his starting position.

In a small sample size for both players this season, in just about the same amount of plate appearances, Stevenson is hitting worse but has a few more walks. Over Gio's career he's shown he's capable of hitting. At no point this year, has he had an opportunity to break out of his slump. Which I was fine with, because he had guys who were clearly outperforming him. But with Dugas hurt, we've got a slew of guys to play in the outfield who aren't hitting. One of them is a very good outfielder. That would be Gio. Stevenson's defense was terrible in this game, and drawing a walk wasn't about to make up for it.

Gio started quite a few games. Pearson passed him first. Then Stevenson. Lack of opportunity did not do Gio in.
I was pulling for the guy, but he just wasn’t producing.
Stevenson did for a short time, Now? It may be time to tty someone else. But honestly, Bianco not Gio came through when given starts. It would have been great if they had.

Why are you bringing Pearson into this? Pearson is a clear starter. But Stevenson hasn't done anything to say he's better than Gio. You continue to ignore the point that Gio is a far better outfielder.
As for Bianco, he, too, is a much better outfielder than Stevenson, but he hasn't hit one bit this year. Gio has hit over his career. Is he consistent? No. Does he strike out a lot? Yes. But he's certainly no less consistent or more strikeout prone than anyone else they are throwing out there in his place, and actually has shown he can hit in his career.
You say Gio has "started quite a few games". He has three more at bats than Stevenson. Gio losing his starting job to other guys isn't my issue. My issue is that they gave up on him, and with injuries giving opportunity to other players, Jay's throwing a kid out there who isn't doing any better, and is a downgrade defensively.
People are talking about Gio's slump. Well it's 0-18. In a small sample size, that will drive your batting average way down as it has. But we've watched other guys go through longer slumps than that. I just don't get how you ignore the history with Gio and judge him by a slump. If Dugas is healthy, this problem is solved. But, in the meantime, I question the logic being used.

You do understand there is a roster limit, right?
The coach has to decide who to bring before the series, not during the middle of it.
Stevenson has not had a good three days, we know that now.
