This year's draft looks to have a lot more "supply". Caleb Williams is seen as the clear #1 prospect. Drake Maye has the prototypical physical traits NFL teams like. Then you have guys like Sanders, Penix, Ewers who are bigger than Daniels.
I think Daniels being sub 200 lbs (even though he is listed as heavier) is one concern.
I don’t really understand all of the “he’s too small” takes. I get that he’s probably not 210 as listed on the roster but it’s not like this draft class is full of 6’4” 225 lb guys.
Drake Maye is the one that stands out, listed at 6’4” 230 lbs.
But everyone else?
Penix - 6’3” 213 lb
Nix - 6’2” 217 lb
Sanders - 6’2” 215 lb
Ewers - 6’2” 195 lb
Williams - 6’1” 210 lb
Daniels is listed at 6’4” 210.
Am I to believe that Daniels’ roster weight is BS, but everyone else is completely accurate? I get that 210-215 is a bigger frame on a 6’2” guy than a 6’4” guy, but you just said Quinn Ewers (who is listed at 6’2” 195) is bigger than Jayden Daniels.
I would agree with most that he can’t take the kinds of hits in the NFL that he’s been taking at LSU, but I don’t think any of those guys with the possible exception of Maye can take those hits. On top of that, Daniels has proven to be pretty fricking tough - is there anyone else in the class who has done more to show their durability?
I don’t think his weight is going to matter much unless he weighs in at like 190 or something nuts. And for all the talk about the downside of his weight, I see nothing about the upside of his height (which is a big deal).
I think he has fantastic intangibles. His speed is obvious. He’s shown this year that he has plenty of arm strength (I think they must have tweaked something with his mechanics because his deep ball got way prettier). To me the only real lingering question is his willingness/ability to throw into tight windows. His completion percentage is great but our WRs are so good that he hasn’t had to make a ton of tight throws.

Jayden Daniels will go in the first round.

He keeps playing at this clip he's going top 5.
If he finishes the season at +70% accuracy with over 40 touchdowns and less than 10 turnovers then goes to the combine and runs a 4.42 40
shite I hope the ducking saints draft him
