Always a pleasure, Carl. Thanks for the fun article. You seem to have stepped up your game since the Advocate days. What accounts for your extra flourish? More time? Less oppressive editors?

The story on Sunday...

Outlined against a blue-gray September sky, the Four Roustabouts rode again. In dramatic lore they are known as Mild Flu, Poison Ivy, Projectile Vomiting and Herpes. These are only aliases. Their real names are Boudreaux, Thibodeaux, Nonc Claude and Taunt Basaline. They formed the crest of the ULL Hurricane before which another fighting LSU team was swept over the precipice at Tiger Stadium yesterday as 90,000 spectators peered down on the bewildering panorama spread on the green plain below.

The shoe is also on the other foot. LSU can also go where it hasn't gone before in losing to the Cajuns. How long would it be for you to come out of the shock? Before or after Woddy Harrelsons Zombie movie.

Carl, as someone who actually enjooyed the original Khan Star Trek episode from the 60's I do get your drift and can appreciate the anology. It's not the ultimate trap game this week since it is sandwiched between two SEC games in which the Tigers were favored but let's say it is a mid-major type of trap game due to past history. I would be shocked if the Tigers come out flat(and really that would be ULL's only chance) but stranger things have happened.
Did you hear the one about pig's flying?

Nice job, Carl. I believe most of us read your articles because they're informative, entertaining and serve as a welcome weekday diversions between LSU games.

What you do isn't easy--and certainly more challenging than posters' retorts AFTER they've read pieces such as yours--and I enjoyed your work for The Advocate.
Take care, fellow scribe!

Great stuff Carl, as usual. You are easily my favorite of all - keep 'em coming.

LSUMike 1 - good ones. How 'bout these ....

Scotty to Kirk: "We can't push it any more, Captain, we'll break up." Ha Ha.

Kirk to Scotty: "This place is crumbling all around me. Beam me up, Scotty."

Bones to Kirk: "We can't save him, Captain."

Kirk: "Great... Let's get to the planet Andura. Spock, set a course. Warp drive."

Spock: "Coordinates set, Captain. Estimated arrival 3 hours 15 minutes."

Love this stuff. First saw Star Trek in 1961 on B&W tv. Dates me, doesn't it. But you know what... it captured my imagination (and several generations thereafter).

LSU 41 - ULL 7. Geauxx Cajuns (against all other teams - per a USL grad). Lifetime LSU fan.
