I have no idea how good either team is really
We usually don't know until about week 6...
I am encouraged by what I saw from our offense...but TCU went 7-6 last year and we could beaten them by 30 and frankly should have if not for the Red Zone woes...

It isnt about which team is better

Before we played them, their defense was terrible. Now that we've beat them, they have the best defense in the country.

I have to disagree. As happy as I am about our offensive improvement, we are still not an offensive juggernaut. And we put nearly 500 yards of offense on them. TCU has a good D, no doubt, but no they aren't on the same level as LSU's or any other top SEC D for that matter. To post that TCU's D would be the 3rd best in the SEC is a far stretch.

Nobody said this. People said their defense wouldn't be able to hold up against our running game.

Again, nobody said this. But TCU consistently has one of the top defenses in the country, statistically.

Either #3 or #4. Not the most talented, but very well coached. Patterson has been doing more with less for a long time now.

Their pass coverage (ignoring the multiple PIs) was extremely tight all game long. Very impressive. We might see as good of coverage from SEC foes, but it'll be damn near impossible for anyone to be better in that regard. Fortunately for us, Mettenberger is cocky enough to throw into tight coverage and good enough to complete it in said condition.

Didn't read anything on here about their defense being top in the country before the game is all I'm saying. Funny how that works.

TIL top 16 defense is terrible.

will probably wind up looking like 4th or 5th out of 14 SEC teams, so arguably better than 10 or 11 SEC teams.

Considering they have had something like the No. 1 total defense (3) out of the past (5) years I'd say they are one of the better ones the Tigers will face this year.

Exactly what I was thinking, I think this years Georgia would be a good comparison

I think the Rant is giving TCU waaaay too much credit.

In the bottom 5 of D's we face.

I think behind BAMA, but maybe on par with Florida to just behind it.

Likely behind Bama and UF. Anyone I'm overlooking?
Hard to determine this based on the evidence.
1. TCU did not have its best defensive player for the game who also happened to offer the one thing they lacked in the game (pass rushing skills). There is no question he would have made a difference in the game and thus the overall perception of the TCU defense.
2. The other thing is TCU's D did not have the benefit of seeing game film on what the new OC would do with the LSU team offense as this was his first game at LSU. This is something that Bama and Florida will get.
